Pullstart 67,042 #4 Posted November 13, 2020 I spoke with TJ one the phone yesterday, great enthusiastic young man right there! He reminded me that the 800 Special has a peerless (1400?) transmission, not a unidrive. He does have access to other tractors, it sounded like some are for parts. Would a Unidrive swap easily in place of the Peerless? It is a horizontal shaft Briggs powered tractor. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

One concern I have is the obvious of converting vertical to horizontal belt drive... So let's back this up a little bit and ask why we want a receiver hitch? Is there a hitch already on the tractor like a flat tab? If we're only going to be towing something very light duty that's all well and good. Maybe some pictures of exactly what we're dealing with? Perhaps I should start paying better attention Best thing I could tell you would me to put the donor tractor side by each with that one and take some measurements. I have had tractors fall, luckily I was not underneath. It's important to remember that one of the big reasons why we all like these old tractors is because they are very heavy duty, also, very heavy! Even the lightest of these ways in the neighborhood of 400 lb and I would not want to catch that on my arm. Take it easy and slow and undo one thing at a time and make sure you understand where you're at before you keep moving on... 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Pullstart 67,042 #12 Posted November 13, 2020 In the Illustrated parts list, it shows these two hitches. I imagine one is the front attachamatic, the other bolts to the back of the transmission. TJ, the hitch 7-20-B appears to be a bent piece of metal. I large section of angle iron just might do the trick if you have access to any.
