71_Bronco 1072 #1 Posted August 13, 2020 I love the size of my Lawn Ranger. Haven't gotten to use it much as I just recently picked it up. They should have the same uni-drive as the bigger tractors of the era, but the wheels are a little unique. The older ones (62-65 I believe) had the wheels keyed directly to the shaft, and the later ones had 3-lug hubs, not the typical 5-lug. As others have said, I dont think they came stock with Kohler's, but I've read that the K181 (8hp) is a direct swap. May want to double-check that though as I've never done it myself, just read it was possible. Here's a pic of mine, it's the first generation with the tool-box, rear fenders and spring seat (rather than a seat-pan)

Yup, Wheel Horse supposedly changed them in '63 due to complaints about the hard, solid front wheels. I'm in the process of gathering new wheels & tires, and I went with pneumatic fronts. The other issue I had was the spindles. Those stock front wheels have steel bushings, no bearings. Ruined the spindles. Lincoln at A-Z Tractor happen to have a set (was super shocked). The new fronts will have bearings.
71_Bronco 1072 #4 Posted August 13, 2020 Sweet ride @dclarke. Very nicely modified there with the floorboards and the second clutch pedal. Bet she's a blast to rip around on.
