Tractor boy 239 #1 Posted July 6, 2020 Friend is looking at a cub 1320. I’m just curious about the good/bad. I looked at the tractor data stuff and it’s bare bones. Thanks

WVHillbilly520H 10,376 #3 Posted July 6, 2020 My dad has a 1720 Lawnmower vertical shaft Kohler M17 cuts grass but that's all its good for. I'm guessing the 1320 is a single lung version?
ZXT 2,401 #4 Posted July 6, 2020 A 1320 isn't one I would really consider having around unless I was just looking for something to mow with. It's a late 80s-early 90s vertical shaft 12.5 HP Kohler, and it's just a mower. Light duty for sure. If you really want to add a yellow tractor to your herd, look for something a little older. I have a 1650 and it's a pretty good machine, but it's not without its issues.
diesel cowboy 263 #5 Posted July 6, 2020 The 1320 is a decent little lawn mower but that's about all it's good for. 13hp Kohler command single with a Hydrogear trans and Peerless rear axle. They're a decent machine to mow a small lawn and tow a little trailer with lawn and garden waste, but they don't like to pull heavy loads very far. I've worked on quite a few of that series Cadet at work and the most common problems I've seen are the rear rims are siezed to the axle shafts, the decks are at the point where they're rotting out, the typical wiring issues on the back of the key switch, the drive belt getting worn and acting like the trans is bad, and there is a bearing in the rear axle on an idler gear set that will seize up and lock up the rear end. Other than that if they aren't abused and made to do the work of a bigger machine they just seem to keep going. There's no filter on the hydro but there is a reservoir on the top of it that you can check to see what the oil looks like. It takes Cub Cadet drive system fluid or Case IH Hy-Tran for the oil
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,602 #6 Posted July 6, 2020 I gave a 1320 to my brother in law about 5 years ago. He's rough on his lawn tractors, and this one has held up with him. The only issue he's had is a mower drive belt. Other than that, it's held up pretty well. For light duty work and mowing, they're great little machines. Has a 12.5 Kohler Command in them. 1991 LT brochure.pdf 1989 Lawn Tractor Brochure.PDF
