It’s okay @Ed Kennell you’ve already done enough to help me. You don’t have to bring that wood from the show to my house. I’m sure Jim won’t mind continuing another 6 hours past the show grounds to get to my place. However if you want to jump in the truck with him I’d love to have both of you guys over to show you my collection. And yes, I’ll buy you dinner too!

I've been changing my nutritional habits over the last couple weeks to a low carb ketogenic type. Under 100 carb allndays.  Under 50 on a few. 

Down 10 lbs this morning.  

5 more and I'll be back at my lowest from last year (and many years).

First, I cursed at Mother Nature for the rain and 30 degree temperature drop from yesterday. I also attempted to repair a garden trailer ATV tire that the valve stem was horizontally split in half. While I got the valve stem in it, fixing one problem created two more. It now leaks more due to old stiff rubber, and my previous failed attempts before succeeding to unseat the tire from the rusted rim. However, the tires on the trailer were 10+ years old, so I’ll either foam both tires or look at reasonable similar new replacements.

Got the hydraulic lift put together on Ol' Johnny. Now I'm wondering if the electric PTO will hold up to the Mighty Mac - or if maybe I should make this my dedicated Mowing/Leaf vac machine.

I don’t know yet, I’ve got to look it up more. I did see back years ago at a tradesman show there is a foam to put in tires if you do logging etc I just don’t remember what it was.

Please keep me posted on that. I am currently under the impression that the only foam that can go in a tire and be successful is a commercial grade issue which is very expensive.

You shoulda seen the splitter I got to run. Youda been in splitter heaven EB. Log lift  & adjustable up/down hydraulic fourway. Dual ram speeds. 12 HP Honda. Really the cat's meow but yah $$$... about 8500 in today's money. 

The neighbor I was helping his only source of heat so for him worth the investment.

That will be interesting if foam works.  My uncle used just regular homeowner foam in  a couple of tires and it didn't cure inside and just made a mess.

I believe the expanding foam requires moisture from the air for it to cure. Sealing it inside a tyre would, I imagine, have the same effect as leaving it in the can🤔. Suppose you were to insert an amount of water, (as a catalyst) into the tyre before injecting the foam, would that work?

I seem to remember reading the instructions recommending wetting the areas to facilitate adhesion and curing🤔

I've read piles of forums and spoken to zillions (give or take)  of people. 

 

I've never heard of a non commercially installed foam that works right and stays in its correct form.  

 

It'd be neat if there was one.

This video is the most honest one I have found.            It works,  BUT!                   I did the spray foam deal years ago on a cart that sat most of the time and the foam flat spotted from sitting too long.

I think one 'might' get decent results with a two-part, flexible/resilient polyurethane foam, although I haven't tried it myself in a tire. Smooth-On offers foam kits in several different levels of softness and expansion. You might give them a call and see if they have any recommendations or user feedback for tire-filling. I haven't checked on price per unit volume.
