Handy Don 14,129 #8381 Posted June 25 Just read this morning that the South County Fairgrounds, along with a substantial chunk of North Adams county, are without electricity due to a substation fire. Over 1,500 customers affected and restoration may take days. Whew. Outage map.

The Big Show dodged a bullet. 4 1
Ed Kennell 42,170 #8383 Posted June 25 Picked up another park bench at the auction. This is #3 and I need one more. I had to pay $7 for this one, but the slats are all good. Just needs sanded and paint. 95F, but I had to try the new Trac Vac from the Show. Worked great, but I have to remember to slow or stop the blower before taking the top off to dump the grass. 3

I was running the vac/blower at WOT. I may experiment with a slower speed next time. There doesn't seem to be much load on the Briggs. It shouldn't hurt to run it a bit slower.
8ntruck 7,877 #8386 Posted June 25 The new water heater in the lake house passed both the flood test and the smoke test! Got hot water there now. On to the next project - building a Murphy bed for the lake house. I've got a hardware kit that came with plans for the bed. I'll Basically be building 2 big boxes. Planning on getting that done in about a week. I'll take a day to look the pontoon over as well as the outboard, then get that into the lake first, though. We did take a dip in the lake in the hot weather a couple days ago. Wasn't really refreshing 'cause the shallow water by the shore was pretty warm. Much better to get out into the deep water on days like that.
ebinmaine 72,988 #8387 Posted June 25 The BBT's livingroom reorganizing is going well. New shelves and TV stand built and installed. Other shelves gone. Stuff moved. MUCH better.

Ed Kennell 42,170 #8391 Posted June 26 1 hour ago, rjg854 said: Does that make the front end light? YES, and it creates a higher COG that is also shifted to the rear right. I have a receiver hitch on the left side of the front frame where I need to add a weight box. This is the ideal location to help bring the COG back to center. But, with all that weight on the right side, I will always need to mow with the right side on the up side of the slope to prevent a tip over. Also need to learn not to mow under low hanging limbs that flip the catcher box up side down. And when dumping the box, remember to slow the Briggs blower before removing the top. And wear the ear muffs. Old Ed Dog is learning. 1

It is disassembled, needs painted and reassembled. I have new locust slats for it. Been on the list for at least 8 years now. It' not going to happen. Let me know if interested. I work in East York 2 days a week. I'd gladly bring it to work if you want to meet me there for the swap. 8ntruck 7,877 #8397 Posted June 29 We were excited to get the pontoon launched today. Was short lived, though. After getting it off the trailer, I took off back to the house and dropped the trailer at the lake house. My wife was driving the pontoon to our dock, but she wasn't there yet, as she has been in previous years. I walk out to the dock to see her being towed by a jet ski. Not good. Got it tied up, restarted the engine, no tell tale water flow. Not good. Probably overheated and shut off. No time to troubleshoot today, so I'll take some time tomorrow. I'm halfway expecting to find a bad water pump impeller. This is a Honda 20hp outboard. It has been giving me fits tracing down a cold start issue for the last 3 seasons. Made some progress on that late last season. Now this cooling issue shows up. I'm kind of disappointed with this engine. It ran really well for 2 seasons, then started developing a 'personality' - didn't expect that from a Honda.

A few years ago I got involved helping a friend with a Honda 15 that had also developed a “personality.” Cold non-start, warm non-start, stalling after 20-30 minutes with us well away from the dock! After a bunch of parts and head scratching it started to behave as expected but we never had a definitive diagnosis.
