Me too, Ive often wondered though how to stop all Toronto or Montreal Traffic period.....Makes me think of an ol jock ops joke from years ago and wonder if it would work on them? My buddy we call Newf.....well he decided to head west! Well off he goes, driving west on what is considered the busiest hwy in north america, he was smart to avoid Montreal cuz he doesnt know how the language. Down the road he drives....Toronto 300km, Toronto 200km Totonto 100km then he saw this sign saying Toronto left. Boy was he so pissed off he turned around and went right back home......Hmmmmm he really is a good ol boy, drink ya under the table! But I figure thats ok, he always baught the beer heheheheh.

My quiet corner happens to be a couple miles from a nice lake and within driving distance of Illinois. 😞

Same is happening here. Fortunately we are off the beaten track, 3/4 mile off the main road and down a dead end.

County clean up day.  Hazardous waste and junk tires...  10 per vehicle, Mrs. P and I are in line with two trucks of tires...

Apparently someone else got the flyer too...

I’m almost to the merge of two entrances.  It started at 9, I arrived 8:57, it’s 9:25.  There’s also a horse show at the same place, so there are police directing traffic and plenty of lost people driving in circles in the infield :ROTF:

That's a rather amusing visual.

Here in my municipality we can dispose of 2 tire per household per week.

The only thing a little difficult to get gone is waste oil.

Sometimes small containers fall in the fire pit.

Here in my  neck of the woods, old tires are used as fire starters when burning brush piles and for flower pots.

Image result for tire flower pot pics

Old oil is used in oil burners, chain saw bar oil, dirt road sealer

We had a local business taking it but ((@@&$#@))_$&@__))) people were leaving containers outside his shop after hours that were holding a lot of water or whatever else.

Needless to say he quit that favor.

Went for our second covid jabs today. Our route took us past a field with three wind turbines in.

One looked a bit odd in the distance so we got a bit closer.

I'm guessing its pretty much scrap.

In and around Charlotte NC and Monroe NC any auto parts store ( Auto Zone, Advance Auto ) will take used motor oil and ATF...

Wish it were that easy here.

From what I understand we have to put the old oil back in the original containers and return it with the receipt...

IF the store takes it.

Ive been in the vicinity of a couple similar failures, had the tip of one try to take out the equipment shack at a tower site. Looks like this one started to fail and got flexing enough to strike the mast, then...kabloooie! Fwap fwap! Shred shred shred!

Solar and passive solar especially, with alternative storage methods other than batteries.(heat sink, hydro gravity, solar/geothermal) using thermodynamic principles that take advantage of temperature differentials, and continuing to make our electrical devices more efficient will get us there eventually!

The Solway estuary where I am is tidal of course. Over the years there has been talk of a barrier with turbines in and a road for light vehicles. Tide goes in and out twice a day and the road would cut out a 40 mile drive to get round.

Nothing gets done because of the environmentalists. I'm all for protecting wild life but let's have some common sense.

I read somewhere recently that common sense is no longer common.
