Hay wagon

Recommended Posts

Pat mcgrew

I decided I wanted a small wagon to pull behind my horse. Started out with hubs and spindles from a snowmobile trailer. I should have taken pictures of earlier steps, but I’m more than happy to supply measurements and close up pictures if anyone wants them. More pictures to come..

Neat looking work so far...

I'll follow along...

What are we using it for?

We do a lot of hay rides around the farm. Also there is a large tractor show close to me, it will be used to haul the family around.

Nice. Looking forward to seeing this materialize.

What are the rough measurements?

Nice work.    Don't forget a vertical joint when you build the tongue.   Someone on here just built a wagon and forgot this important step.

@Ed Kennell can you post a pic of what you are referring to? I think I understand but want to verify for my own use on my trailers... Thanks.

The tongue should have a joint that allows the tongue to move vertically like any Radio  Flyer toy wagon.

Allows hitching to any height drawbar,  operation over rough terrain, and can be lifted back over vertical for storage.See the source image

The spring is not necessary on a light tongue and it would be in the way to store the tongue back over the wagon.

Rough measurements are 5’ wide 8’ long with the deck sitting about 18” off the ground.

Well Monday had a great day rounding up some attachments. Now to clean them up, paint, get new badges from the vinyl guy. Just a few projects for winter and maybe summer we see how it goes. Just not sure which I'm going to do first. Almost forgot the new addition to the heard.

I guess a WH 4 wheel wagon is an attachment.....I will (hopefully) attach it to one of my WH tractors.
Anyway, I know the drill, so here are the photos!

It is going to need some work, but it isn't eating too much so I can keep it around for a while!
