cafoose 3,456 #1 Posted March 18, 2020 A friend of mine knows someone who has this for sale. He says it runs. I'm going to check it out over the weekend. What should I offer for it? 5
ebinmaine 73,015 #2 Posted March 18, 2020 @JCM I don't have a very big screen on this little phone but it looks fairly decent in the small pictures. Those 417 s have some desirability. Personally, I like the way they run and drive at least on a Gear drive tractor. Mowing deck. Rear hitch. I'm not the best with values but I would think if that runs drives and operates okay it should be worth a fair investment on your part. Great workers. 1

pfrederi 18,714 #5 Posted March 18, 2020 $400 or so. Lots of idiot lights and electrical thingies that can fail. also looks like 2 big oil stains on grass shield. oil filler and dip stick is on the other side of the engine wonder what is leaking.... KT17 Series 2 are smooth powerful engines.... 1

midpack 1,011 #8 Posted March 18, 2020 (edited) any ideas on the hours? I have a 417-8 and it's my "shed" queen deck looks pretty rough, rear end has some oil on it too. mine has a leaky axle seal, I just make sure the level is good until I get a chance to put a new one in. ask the guy what he's thinking, if he says "make me an offer" for me, that means all bets are off! start with $200... yeah, 250 is a sweet deal as long as that motor hasn't been run out of oil Edited March 18, 2020 by midpack

WildmanC120 613 #10 Posted March 18, 2020 I would easily pay 200-300 for that as long as it's not blown up looks like it should clean up well.

troutbum70 858 #20 Posted March 19, 2020 Your to late I always wanted a 417A to go with my 417-8, better get there before I do. Only kidding but if I found it first for that price it would already be on my trailer, I would not even consider selling my 417-8 for less than $500.00. If memory serves me correctly the 417A sold for about $800.00 more than the 417-8 when they were new. I think mine cost me right around $3,200.00 when new.
ZXT 2,401 #21 Posted March 19, 2020 5 hours ago, cafoose said: I was actually thinking of offering $200 myself If it runs as stated and is a decent tractor with the hitch, deck and caps, I'd almost consider $200 an insult if it were mine. I'd pay the man the $250 he wants and take it home. 1

All jokin aside, my 417A is my go to mower when the grass is heavy. She spins the 48SD and that Kohler Twin really snorts in the tall stuff. Actually sounds much stronger than the P220 Onan in the 520H. And it takes about an hour to melt a patch on the deck.

cafoose 3,456 #25 Posted March 19, 2020 They sent me to the West York facility in the company van today so I snuck in to see the tractor. . The guy showed it to me and I said so you're asking 300 but would take 250? He said sure.I said how about 200 . He said no so I said meet in the middle at 225 and he said sold! I went to the bank and got the cash. I pick it up Saturday morning. @gwest_ca Looks like 3117KE02 15060 on the tractor and 0548MS05 on the deck. The engine numbers look like they're easily read on the picture. 3 4
