Sam Pasch 450 #27 Posted May 23, 2020 My stack is made from pipe off of a Pull up bar out of my dads high school gym. I used one of the muffler that was on the tractor( it had a nelson with a kohler muffler welded to that). I used a 90 degree and welded that to a threaded pipe in the block. Then I welded to muffler and a top pipe on. It does make it quieter with less pop and more base note. 1

Where can I find the locking nuts for the 1" npt pipe? Also a muffler clamp that small...Should I go to the engine vs. the frame? Any difference? I guess there is no movement either way. thanks !!!! john Like @jabelman says those are standard locking nuts from a box store. The clamp on Cinnamon is a 1-3/8" standard exhaust clamp. Best to bring the piece of pipe and compare the sizes. BRANDS WILL VARY. I don't believe it would matter if you went to the engine or frame on a tractor that does not have a shaker engine mount. WHNJ701 4,165 #31 Posted May 23, 2020 Looks like we are working on the same thing today!, I am doing the same @ebinmaine did, found a piece of scrap and put a bend and offset. 1
ET160 30 #32 Posted June 18, 2020 I think I'm going to have to extend my stack muffler. I'm getting too much exhaust in my face at the regular height.

That's why the one on my cinnamon horse is so tall. I also have it facing sideways.

I chose that for several different reasons. It's thin so it doesn't weigh much. It's chrome so it looks cool. The piece I bought is half of a p-trap section from a sink drain and I cut it so that it faces sideways. It would be best to get a physical measurement of what you have before purchasing extensions. They can vary.
ET160 30 #38 Posted June 19, 2020 Eric, Thanks for the advice. I'll see if can get to the store today. In the interim, what do you think about pointing the stack down toward the front tire. Would it get too hot for the tire?

I certainly would not put exhaust pointing directly at the rubber even if it was several inches away.

A “Tink Tink” rain flapper turned 90 outwards can help redirect fumes too.
