Bert 760 #1 Posted February 22, 2020 (edited) Hello, I’ve been away from the site for awhile and wanted to touch bases with y’all. I’m now a home owner and married so hasn't been my number one priority for a bit. That hasn’t stopped me from buying a few whenever I can and I’ve got some builds underway that should be neat summer projects. The find redsquare members may appreciate the most is the 417 I hauled home from Tennessee I’ve also picked up a 1990 416 and a later model 520. Bert 760 #4 Posted February 22, 2020 @JCM that’s a nice looking 417 you’ve got there, they seem to be hard to find bout anywhere. The hour meter shows more use then the tractor in my opinion, If I were to guess I’d say the key was left on and ran up the hours The low hour 520 I bought years ago was at 347 hours and was just starting to show wear, there’s not a bit of slop in the steering, motion control or brake pedal so I believe it’s low but we’ll never know for sure. 2 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
JCM 10,251 #5 Posted February 22, 2020 By looking at those pics I would not think that tractor has anywhere close to that amount of hours on it. They do use some fuel those Twin Kohlers but out of all the vehicles I have had in the past 44 years I have never got more than 13 MPG so I'm not complaining. 4 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

JCM 10,251 #7 Posted February 22, 2020 I would think when that K582 project is completed and you fill it up and take it down to that fillin station where you topped my truck off after the Ferguson mission and then drive it on the road back to your house it will probably be running on fumes as they say. JCM 10,251 #11 Posted February 22, 2020 Many of my pics were also in a box, starting to get them all in albums and some under that Muscle Car heading were not scanned but here on RS we all like our pics when you have time we would enjoy them for sure. c-series don 10,159 #15 Posted February 23, 2020 Wow that may be one of the cleanest 417’s I’ve ever seen. I have a 417-A with a cab and two stage blower. I actually inherited it after it was used somewhat commercially to cut grass from my step grandpa, the guy that introduced me to Wheel Horse in the early 80’s Whoever had that tractor before you really appreciated it and took proper care of it. The gentleman I bought it from was not the original owner and didn’t know much about it, he claimed not to have ever worked it and did keep it indoors under the original cover. As far as what I’m planning to do with it I’ve pondered that for awhile and decided not to work it. I’ll likely keep it around as part of my collection but I have considered listing it for sale at a similar price that I gave for it. Not sure yet. 3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

It does look like you have far more than 12 PSI in the rear tires, though. shhh ... increase in tire pressure is like a continuous shot of nitrous detriment to the ride - but lower rolling resistance ... tractor rolls easier - less load on engine ... engine runs cooler ... hydro trans runs cooler ... more gpg (grass per gallon lol) ... increase in top speed (5.5 mph to 5.6 mph - lol - due to increased rear tire diameter) ... reduced steering effort (front tires) ...
