There’s interference still with the fan, but it’s toast and will need to be replaced anyways. It’s funny we brought up ASA racing @oilwell1415. One of these wheels has two valve stems. On tracks such as MIS and Dover, the speeds were so high they were required to use an inner liner. It was basically a tire inside a tire in case the outer skin were to blow. I wonder if I could do a linkage type mechanism to allow forward or reverse pedal movement to automatically lift the parking pawl, then engage it again if they let off? Does that parking pawl take a bunch of force to engage the brake or does that just lock the motion in neutral? Throttle could be controlled by an electric solenoid actuator and a switch at the pedal. Just linking this to give you an idea instead of mechanical linkage. Fly by wire! LoL It's best to always default to no power, no throttle or no drive for safety reasons so the solenoid would need to be designed for continuous use and not have a duty cycle. This could always be used to cut the ignition too like a seat switch or something. Wouldn't the truck be in motion when you "let off"? Considering the added weight this unit will have and your safety needs for the girls you might want to think about a pair of D axles with turning brakes. oilwell1415 563 #209 Posted January 27, 2020 I agree about the parking pawl and the momentum of a moving tractor not mixing well. Better to actuate it manually like a normal parking brake. Since you mentioned adding wheel spacers, my inner engineer is doing cost/benefit analysis again. Did you know that Bart Wheels makes wheels that look almost exactly like those in 15x10 with a variety of backspacing options in the $50-60 range? You could get those with the correct bolt pattern and backspacing and not have to use anything between the hub and wheel. I generally value my time at $50-60 per hour. If it takes me two hours to fab something that I can buy for $50 that's a no brainer to me; I'll buy it every day of the week and twice on Sunday unless it's just something I really want to put my touch on. In this case, if you buy new wheels you might as well buy new tires and all of a sudden you've got $350 invested.....but that also allows you to choose your tire size and I'd probably go to a 295/50/15 that's a little shorter than what you've got to drop the rear a little bit. Odds are, I’ll work with what I can around here to make something from a bunch of nothings. I just enjoy tinkering out there and once in a while letting the fruits of my creativity make a little money. I try to do the same things, but my drive to tinker tapered off a lot when tinkering was my job. TBH, getting my 552 is the first I've really wanted to tinker in probably 15 years. I also like to turn nothing into something. I've been trying to find something to do with my wood working scraps for a years and think I've finally found a way to make a few bucks on them by making wooden letter out of them. I know what you mean about the lack of desire for tinkering.
