Half the day is hooking up , loading , unloading , tying down , driving , unloading . When I had 6 weeks vacation time , it was worth it to drive to find snow but now I have just two weeks a year . There's also not as much snow locally to make it worthwhile . I really love it but the work to do it now outweighs the reward .
Digger 66 3,488 #6 Posted November 23, 2019 There may be a new wheeler on the horizon though
JCM 10,225 #7 Posted November 23, 2019 @Digger 66 I feel exactly the same way you do, a lot of work to put into it to ride and before you know it your loading back up to go home. A lot of awesome memories, scenery, mountains good friends and good times, unfortunately all good things eventually come to an end. I still have two very clean Ski-Doos and a nice covered aluminum trailer that I say I am going to sell because I do not use them anymore, I just need to place the classified add and get over it, still hard to do. 1
Achto 29,405 #8 Posted November 23, 2019 I sold my sleds about 15yrs ago, I do miss them the one or two times a year when I would actually be able to use them. For the most part though I felt like I had too much invested in them for the use I was able to get out of them,
tom2p 2,394 #9 Posted November 24, 2019 (edited) for sure snowmobiling can be a heckuva lot of fun and can make winter much more fun - but it does require an investment (money and time) if there was snow - we would often go out weekday evenings after work and return just a few hours before start of the next work day did not matter how cold - we rode when high temps were in single digits we spent most of our time riding in PA ... in the laurel mountains (near Seven Springs) - and the Allegheny National Forest one time we rode from Marienville PA (National Forest) up into NY - Allegany State Park ; that was a heckuva trip : 308 miles - through a 25" blizzard ; we started around 7-8 am and returned around 4 am some friends still ride - but I have not used mine in years my Triton trailer sits in the back of our property with two flat tires Edited November 24, 2019 by tom2p

Going to miss those -12 degree mornings . Something very magical about the purity and crispness of a frigid winter morning . Was around - 16 the morning this was taken in Chaffee NY .
