Ever see a C-161 look like this????

So earlier in the month I was getting ready for winter and when mounting the 44" 2 stage I realized it didn't fit.  Everything about the fiberglass black hood is just wrong for trying to use this snowblower.  Well I started looking at this 161 and the 416 I have sitting beside it and got some ideas.....

Well fast forward to today.  Took a 6 hour ride round trip to go see @Super-C 4 me.  He was nice enough (Thank you again) to supply me with the parts I needed to convert this black hood over to a 300/400/500 series.  Just like I had thought...Snowblower now fits like it was meant for it.  I do miss the black hood but I need a working tractor and snowblower a little more.  I just need to get some new throttle and choke cable assemblies and its good to go.

It's amazing what all will interchange on these between years/models. I like it!

The 3/4/500 series hoods look better anyways! :hide:

I'm kinda partial to the older C series and black hoods myself.  But I will say that this style hood is much nicer looking then no hood.  It is pretty amazing that you can literally mix and match whatever combo of parts you want to make whatever you want...Like this C161.  It doesn't even know what it is anymore.

Excellent !  That is the sweet thing about these tractors a lot of parts interchange and I'm working on a 1067 right now that is basically a Franken horse. I'm putting different parts from different years and making it stronger and better.!

Looking good.  I see nothing wrong with that. Enjoy

Cool cool!  @roadapples grabbed a tower from me from @953 nut from (drawing a blank) at the Big Show this June to convert a black hood in the same manner :handgestures-thumbupright:

*edit* I think Mr. Jay was planning on adapting to a previous square hood body style?

I know I'm going to catch static for saying this, BUT I think the simple, down and dirty, narrow hood 867 (which is what I own) and the 10 HP version were the nicest looking. I also own a '79  C101, but  I'm not a big fan of all the sheet metal covering up everything. The darn lift lever sticks out too far and hits my leg with the deck in the up position,  Would anyone want to trade an early C 101 for my restored '79 C 101?

What’s to catch static for Ron?  Besides any of the round hoods, the early square hoods are my favorite too.  :handgestures-thumbupright:
