Thinking of adding to the herd!

Recommended Posts

I have a chance to get what is said to be a 1959 RJ. I have bought from this person before nice kid.  Hood will need changed or repaired.  Question is how to be sure it’s a real rj59.  Was told it original but have been told that before 😂🤣.  Was also told there is a 9 on the transmission!  I have only seen pictures of tractor not in person.  Please educate me on this!!!  Thanks so much!  I am to see it tonight!  Value is what a person is willing to pay, but a fair market price indication please so I have an idea.  If it’s a real 59’ it’s one of the missing links in our heard!!!

I'm not too familiar with RJ's but.. if there was a chance to add one to my fleet, I know I would so .. sounds like you ought to too!

I don't know of any real way to tell a '58 from a '59. The 9 on the transmission case would tell you that the case was cast six decades ago. Is it the same transmission that was on the tractor when it left the factory, who knows? I don't think a '59 would be worth any more than a '58, just a great conversation point. If you had an original '59 bill of sale attached to the factory manual then you would have something!

Go get it and enjoy it!

Nice little tractor there!  Go for it.  As others said, hood is an easy fix or just leave it alone.  Consider it an anniversary gift!!

Don’t tell me you found it in Iowa somewhere! If that’s the case then I’m moving back up there! Nice looking tractor!

Well heading home from picking up my horse from underwood Iowa! Husband is fussing I bought another horse but hey he will get over it when he gets to play with it! So now I have them in order we have 58 RJ, 59 RJ, a few 60 suburbans, 61 suburban, and 62 702! I was driving until clutch decided to give me fits! So Joe is driving! He says it’s my fault which it probably is!🤔 Hey what to expect from a woman right! We like to miss things up so you men get to fix it!😂

Looks like a nice tractor, and it even has brand new rubber on the rear! Good score!

Tell him to be grateful! Most guys would love to have a wife that was into the hobby!

Glad to see it went to a good home...I was browsing CL up around Nebraska last week since we were going up for vacation and stumbled across this one...thought real seriously about calling on it, just as well had I bought the tractor we wouldn’t have had room to haul the free camper back that I got while we were up there. Have fun and enjoy your new tractor

I ended up getting it for $450.00 😀
