prondzy 3,889 #1 Posted June 23, 2019 I have been kicking around the idea of buying a nice cooler something like a yeti, i know they are expensive so im not looking for price complaints just wondering what some of you guys are using to keep food cold or frozen while camping/going to shows. What are some things you like/dislike about your cooler?
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,534 #2 Posted June 23, 2019 I have a Yeti. Kinda won it from a work contest. I love it but they are not as good as everyone claims they are. They will not keep ice for the advertised amount of days. Might keep it 2-3 days depending on where it is stored.
dkg520 527 #3 Posted June 23, 2019 I really like my Yeti. Keeps food cold/frozen for days if left unopened. The problem with it is that the cooler is heavy empty. Fill it with food and ice and you need wheels to move it. It is very heavy when filled.

clueless 3,248 #11 Posted June 24, 2019 I've got a 72 qt marine igloo and the BIL has a 72 qt yeti. Down here a weekend at the beach with the coolers in the boats and the daytime temps over 90 degrees the yeti keep the stuff colder longer. Now the igloo coast a little over $100.00 and the Yeti coast $450.00, does the Yeti keep the stuff colder four times longer, not by a long shot. There's are a few company's making coolers as good a Yeti, but cost less, you pay for the Yeti name. Side note a while back my nephew came by to show me his new to him boat, he said the first thing he bought for it was a Yeti. I said that an expensive cooler, he said but unk it will keep a 12 pac cold for 3 days. I told him if he still has a 12 pac after 3 day, you not doing it right . 1
Docwheelhorse 2,740 #12 Posted June 24, 2019 Hi, I work at Cabelas part time... go in and buy one of the Yeti wanna be coolers with the Cabelas brand on it. They are less expensive and some people say they are better in some ways. Yeti actually sued Cabelas over them (they lost...) Tony
WHX?? 51,773 #13 Posted June 24, 2019 (edited) Are these the ones Tony? https://www.cabelas.com/browse.cmd?categoryId=1062648180 I use their CC and have quite a few points built up. May have to score one myself. I have at least three of the Wally World cheapys and wouldn't be afraid to scrap any of them for something decent. It depend on few things: first is the insulation, that was a main issue, secondary on the System what delivers the Cold. Thats a well known issue especially on mobile fridges, if the mobile fridges are empty, they consumpts more Power for Cooling. The switch on phasis will increase and also the power consumption increases. Each more is in the fridge, each more material can save the cold, each less power is needed to keep it cool. Were advice our customer to keep the fridge as full as possible, to drop the Power consumption. Ask why mostly the Men has their Fun with that... Oh, can i fill empty space up with Beer.... 😂 1
