ZXT 2,401 #751 Posted May 29, 2019 Is there a piece of it missing? Looking at the threaded section down by the drill bit.. Thinking maybe you put the threads of whatever it is in there, and maybe another piece goes on to complete the claim shell, and then the bit center drills it.. Wild guess, but maybe something for drilling out the electrode in a spark plug? Not sure if that's even a thing, but I figured it was better than no guess at all. I like the center drill idea. No spark plugs involved. Give me 3-4 more good guesses and I'll drop a clue.

formariz 12,040 #756 Posted May 30, 2019 I can see fully how this works. Essentially it is designed to slip what ever is worked on on the bottom. Then the second adjustment threads down into that precising centering it with the bit. There seems to be also some sort of "key" aligning method. Then third step seems to be bringing down bit close to it, then finally turning lever to drill out what ever it is. Looks like what ever it is it removes is small.Just cant think what.

Ed Kennell 41,790 #765 Posted May 30, 2019 This tool may have been obsolete before you youngens had an opportunity to use it. Before all faucets came with replaceable cartridges, the faucet body contained a cup that centered a rubber washer that was held in place by a slotted brass screw. When the washers wore out and needed replaced, the brass screws either broke off or the heads were corroded away. So this tool was used exactly as Cas described above to drill out the old screw.
