How can we make this pedal tractor stand up on its own?

Recommended Posts

ebinmaine

I know the title of this thread is "non tractor related discussion" and by definition this is actually a tractor but it isn't exactly a big tractor so I'm thinking this is probably where this should go.

:D

Trina wants to try to stand this tractor up over by the stairway wall to use it as a decoration. It's obviously missing quite a fair amount of stuff. I don't necessarily want to spend a bunch of money finding more parts or get it moving on its own power.

What can we do to make it so that it will stand by itself?

I'm going to go ahead and blame the camera even though we all know full well it was the operator

If you can't fix it with duct tape, it's beyond repair.

How about a piece of wood turned down to fit the hole,  with a hole through the size of the axle then split. Pushed through the holes in the chainguard then screwed to gether.

Can't do that unless you cut the sprocket off.

Conduit clamps adhered to the axle and rear frame?

If I'm see how it assembles correctly would this work...

cut 2 pieces of plywood sort of the size of the chain guard.  Put a notch in the rounded end of them so they can side over the axle and sandwich around the axle gear.  screw them together around that axle gear. Then screw the chain guard together and fastened to the tractor.  Hopefully the plywood will "fill" the chain guard and hold everything together.

It's not Rocket Science. There are around a third of the pieces missing that you will have to make to get it to stand up. Main piece is a rear axle support that goes out to the wheels it holds up the chain guard and the the the strap from the main frame below the seat bolts to it. 3/4 plywood would work attach the rear axle with some metal straps if it's just for show. I don't see any peddles and can't see what holds up the chain guard in the front.

“See what she does.”

I can imagine this conversation going well!

EB. Well Honey, the guys said you can do it this way, this way, or this way.  What are you going to chose?

BBT (Black Belt Trina) Thank you for your phone a friend, Bear!  I will chose option number 2.  Will that be ok?

EB. I’m sure they will be ok with that choice.  I’ll let them know how it works out 💪

EB that answer might be right in front of you, (Not BBT), but the zip ties. Might want to zip that guard in place with some spacers inside to hold it firm to the axle sprocket.

That thing is to cool to alter or destroy.

Just a thought.

Us too.

We'd love to use it as is without modification to it.

You all would be proud of her.

She sanded and brushed it carefully so as to clean it up while maintaining original patina.

You only need something simple to hold it up since there are no little kids around, because the first thing they would do is hop on...:happy-bouncygreen:

If I was closer, would take a shot at it!

A few pics and a old bicycle chain and peds might be the ticket. :)
