The Tuul Crib

Said good-bye today

The Tuul Crib

This morning we woke up to go about our normal routine only not to be so normal. My best friend of fifteen years had a  seizure and it was bad enough the she couldn't walk any more. Half blind half deaf

( ain't we all) vet said that made the right choice of putting her down. She was always with me everywhere I went.

God bless

It is a sad day when you have to put down a friend.  The hurt never stops, but neither does the love.

I know how bad it is to lose your best friend. I had to put down my best little buddy Sammy. I still hurt when I see his pictures. The love they give everyday just can't  be put in words. I loved him as much as any of my children.

The Rainbows Bridge Poem
RainbowBridge.com
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Condolences Crib.... one of the bad things about getting up in one's years and having dogs throughout those years is having to go through this on more than one occasion.

I strongly empathize with you. I lost my little bud this past August. I don't want to do that again.

Our Jack Russel, Cooper passed in his sleep two years ago. We still laugh at his antics and pranks, I want to get another Russel but my other half is balking at the idea so I may have to purchase one on the sly then drop it off in our yard for her to find as a stray.

Cooper was a natural born comedian.

Sorry for your loss of such a buddy.  The only companion who is excited to see you, every time, all the time, no matter how long you’ve been away.

Pets hold a special place in our hearts that no one else can - a personal connection to an animal is a gift. I think the best thing you can do is give another one a loving home - too many animals never get that chance of having a good, loving home. Sorry to hear that.

I am sorry to read about your loss. I have felt that a number of times myself. We probably will be facing it again in a year or two. That is the trouble with adopting senior rescues that no one else wants. Someone helped me to put ownership in perspective this year though. Dog ownership brings great joy and companionship but it also includes the decision to let go. Because I don't know their previous history (my previous dog showed signs of abuse), we are very generous with treats, petting, and hugs.

@The Tool Crib sorry that you lost your buddy.  Even when you know it is inevitable and not too far in the distant future, it is still really difficult to handle.  We have a 13 year old Siberian that we got when she was 2 from a rescue...

we named her Nixie Knox after one of the characters in a Dr. Seuss book.  She is such a sweetheart but I have noticed that her hearing and eyesight have been rapidly deteriorating.  I have started to prepare mentally for when she finally dies.  I know that it will be really tough on, not only me, but the whole family.

Like your treasured pets, she likes to be in the middle of whatever we are doing!  At this point she still gets around good and likes to take walks.  So, we are making sure to enjoy every minute with her that we are able to now.

That being said, I’m sorry for your loss.  Pets fill a very unique nitch in many of our lives and when they leave us, they leave a hole in our hearts and lives that is difficult to explain.

Thanx brother! I was trying to prepare mentally but you never can. Mine had a seizure Sunday morning and it messed her up pretty bad. She couldn't walk any

more. Was a hard decision to make but it is the last act of kindness you can do for them. She's home now in our hearts and her resting spot behind the house. That is a beautiful  husky btw!

We had to put down our boy Rosco a week before Christmas the year before last. I cried like a baby. A blubbery mess. but he is better off than he was here. He too suffered from seizures and they were under control for a while there but then he started having them every other hour and then hourly and just couldn't come back from them. He tried biting me after the last one and that's when I knew it was time. He never hurt anyone and followed me wherever I went. Now we have several other furry clowns to keep up with but Rosco will always be my boy. Dang if I ain't dripped all over on my keyboard.....
