dells68 7,499 #2 Posted January 29, 2019 Nope. Big let down here. Only about an inch or so. Now we’ve got to live with the coming cold and below 0 windchills. When we got the monster back in December, they said only 1-3”. Guess that means expect the opposit of what they call for. So who knows, might be 79 degrees here tomorrow😂. 1

PeacemakerJack 10,743 #19 Posted January 30, 2019 Here is what is really bizarre about the deep freeze we are facing right now...Jim just posted the current actual air temps at about -25 degrees without the 15-20mph west winds... look at our extended forecast for Sunday/Monday... evening that is a 65 degree warm up!!!! That would be like it hitting 125 by Richie in Florida on Sunday based on his current temps! That is a HUGE warm up. I might have to break out the flip flops and grill out lunch on Sunday. As I posted elsewhere, I ended up with about 10” on the level but lots of drifts that were over 2’ in the driveway. The 523D was definitely up to the task of removal though. It is sooo nice to have a heated shed to keep the tractor in, ready to go at a moments notice (thank you Jim!)...

WHGuy413 2,772 #21 Posted January 30, 2019 I think we ended up with around 3 inches. Blew out the drive with my 416 then did some plowing with the 753 til my kids got home from school. My 9 year old wanted to try and he did great. 1
19richie66 17,629 #22 Posted January 31, 2019 2” of rain Sunday, sunny, windy and cold(by Florida standards) the rest of the week. I am not complaining by no means. All you guys and gals up there in the sub-artic circle, stay safe. 1
WHX?? 51,732 #23 Posted January 31, 2019 (edited) It's a dammed if you do dammed if you don't or six a dozen of one or half dozen of the other @19richie66. We have to put up with cold but no worry about hurricanes. ... or shortage of 's Edited January 31, 2019 by WHX21
Sarge 3,465 #24 Posted January 31, 2019 I used to think that it was better to tolerate the cold winters versus having so much flooding and hurricane risk, until the last 10yrs or so. Yeah, it is from getting older to a certain extent, but more about the extreme storms we keep getting here. Hurricanes are well predicted to an extent and you have time to prepare. Tornadoes, not so much - they can just pop up out of nowhere and destroy an entire town. Ride around the Midwest and you'll see pockets of rebuilt/new neighborhoods that seem a little out of place in relation to the surrounding area - that is the result of a twister. I think I'd rather deal with the heat and an occasional hurricane. I'd never live up against the coast anyway - far too expensive. Sarge
stevasaurus 23,275 #25 Posted January 31, 2019 Sarge, they get tornadoes during hurricanes also...usually on the incoming side. Midwest is the safest place to be...in the states.
