I still think that chances are that the arm on the governor shaft needs to be adjusted.  Loosen the nut on the shaft, rotate the shaft counter clockwise with a pair of vice grips, pull the governor arm as far away from the carb as possible, and lock the nut back in place.  This will adjust your governor and hopefully slow it down and allow the governor to control the engine speed and keep it from reving so high.  Just my $0.02.  We bought a suburban and the little K91 sounded like it was screaming.  Adjusted the governor and it's the best running K91 we have!

Did that twice no difference.

Terry, if your throttle is connected like mine and adjusting the shaft made no difference I dare say the issue is internal.

I hate that Terry!  I’d bet it’s internal too if that didn’t help.  Sorry.

Looks great but I would make the front of the decal either straight up & down or the same angle as the rear. Looks fantastic though. Still like the stars. Matches a certain cup that should be there soon........

WHX??

Now ain't that like Richie.... Terry's got a possible life or death guv issue and he wants to talk decals! :laughing-rolling:

Hate to say it Terry but the fellas may be right... the dreaded internals. Rare condition indeed but has been know to happen.

Probably best to do exploritory surgery. First try holding a finger on that guv shaft arm while manually revving the engine. You should feel the fly weights trying to close the throttle. Keep us posted

The 1st 3 are the 857...the last one is the 876.  terry, like Shannon said...you have to disconnect the throttle cable.  You can adjust the engine speed by where that pinch clip pinches the throttle cable.  It can allow you to pull the throttle out further by where you pinch the outer cable.  check it out.

Thanks for the pics Steve, I can see that I am missing the tab on most if not all of my K-181’s for the throttle cable!  I guess the spot welds broke?

I like the stars too, I’m thinking those won’t change much unless I repaint it... which then might lead me to beg steal and borrow whatever it takes to get another Vinylguy custom package.  :handgestures-thumbupright:  That certain cup fits Frank just fine!

That little one is simple, but so nice!  The big one, well we know if Terry doesn’t make it to dinner on Wednesday, he’s hitting every rest area on the way!

That’s nothing compared to what you have helped me with, not to mention many others. Just a small way of saying “thanks”.

Gary finished the powder coating on the exhaust for the 857 yesterday. It has a couple baffles but is still a bit louder than stock but not too loud.

I like the looks but will see if I like it when in use. may have to replace with a traditional.

Sweet sweet sounds of a a 8hp Kohler :auto-layrubber: .... Tractor is beautiful too .

Now am I'm seeing a new furnace in front of your tractor? Bringing back some memories. Sure wish I kept count of how many furnaces and AC's I installed during my career in HVAC .

Agreed.

My honey and I are fixing ours up one at a time and they will be workers when they are done no matter how pretty they look.

The ability to do the work that they do is the reason why we stick to the Wheelhorse brand.
