Cee245 773 #1 Posted August 19, 2018 (edited) Hi, Sad day today as my shed caught fire this morning. EVERYONE IS OK That's what really matters. As a bonus, the firefighters saved my 416 from damage it seems. Some lightly melted wires but it did start. Thanks Cory Edited August 19, 2018 by Cee245 Pics 1 1

tunahead72 2,350 #8 Posted August 20, 2018 Hey Cory, sorry to hear about your fire, I have nightmares about this kind of stuff. I'm with Dick, any idea how it started?

r356c 375 #10 Posted August 20, 2018 Sorry about your fire. The smoke stains on the doors are a graphic reminder to keep teaching kids that if they find themselves in a fire, drop to the floor and crawl out. Breathable air is close to the ground. Do they still teach kids fire safety/survival in school? 1
Tractor boy 238 #11 Posted August 20, 2018 Sorry to hear that @Cee245. Any idea how it started??
Cee245 773 #12 Posted August 20, 2018 Thanks for the well wishes everyone... The fire is currently listed as "unknown" I called State Farm to make a claim and expect an adjuster to come some time today. I haven't touched much so I don't disturb the scene
Pullstart 60,513 #13 Posted August 20, 2018 Glad everyone is ok, things can be substituted or replaced... people can’t. Best of luck with the claim!
AMC RULES 36,963 #14 Posted August 20, 2018 Hope you can convince the insurance man... it's time for a new " magic" shed. Please keep us updated on how it goes there.
Chris G 3,280 #15 Posted August 20, 2018 Glad to hear that no one was hurt and maybe this situation will open the door for a bigger shed
Kurt-NEPA 755 #16 Posted August 20, 2018 Wow Cory. What a mess! But it looks like you had some luck, it could have been much worse. Now you get the fun of dealing with the insurance company.
Cee245 773 #17 Posted August 20, 2018 Yes Kurt it is a big mess but, Im glad the 520xi my dad just bought wasnt stuffed in my shed too like a couple days ago. I am covered up to a mathematical point. Of course it doesn't make sense to me but I have to write down everything that was affected by the fire. Then I get to argue with the adjuster about value of melted wires on a Horse. And all the toys, tools, ect that I'll have to inventory. This is thankfully going to be the worse part of having the fire as no one was hurt. Cory
Daddy Don 893 #18 Posted August 21, 2018 Your insurance co wants you to do all the work for them. I take pictures of everything in my house and in my shops and write down the model and serial numbers and leave it on the disc. Take them to my safe and make sure I have two copies of them. Give one to my son to keep in case of a tornado or other things like you are going through. Makes it a lot easier when something like this happens. Good luck with the adjuster. Keep up the faith.
Cee245 773 #19 Posted August 26, 2018 @Daddy Don you are right. I am almost done inventoried everything and assigned a price. This has taken Many hours! What a pain.
Cee245 773 #20 Posted August 26, 2018 Structure loss is already settled. But the contents is the hard part. I have 10 pages of things lost. Thankfully I have replacement coverage on homeowners policy. It's a little more but as I'm going through this, I'm glad I opted for it.
Cee245 773 #21 Posted September 10, 2018 # update First of all... Thanks to everyone for the well wishes! Structure settlement went easy. Holy crap, the contents loss not easy! Lol... it's a back and forth battle with the insurance company. *Note to everyone* Get "replacement" coverage on your contents on homeowners policy. That is one thing that's made this easier.
Cee245 773 #22 Posted September 10, 2018 Did I mention you need "replacement" coverage? Lol 2
Daron1965 644 #23 Posted September 10, 2018 After reading your statements of your fire, I contacted my insurance carrier, to make sure I did have replacement coverage. I do. Thank you for the reminder. I hope all works out for you soon. 1
Cee245 773 #24 Posted October 14, 2018 (edited) Update: I will be getting a new shed built in the next few weeks. Local Amish crew are doing the work. Old shed is 10x20 and after getting insurance check, I can upgrade to a 12x24. Plan for the old shed is to rip out all inside osb and insulation and repair a few spots on the outside. Then move it to the back yard and have my 9yr old and 7yr old twins use it as a club house! They are super excited. The larger shed will help with storage of my new 417A and load of parts and a possible 314h with 2 Stage set up. Maybe I should cancel the club house and store a tractor or 2 there! Tractorhead 8,718 #25 Posted October 14, 2018 Firstly good to Hear, nowbody was hurt at your trouble with the shed. Do ya know now, what was the reason for the fire? Because of new Shed, are you able to build the new shed double sided (with a Basement)? so maybe 2 WH can covered together and the Boy's get theyr Clubhouse. 😉
