What temperature setting were you using?                       :ROTF:

The temp varies due to the proximity of the wife to the kitchen. Same holds true to using the oven for pressing bearings and powder coating and using the dishwasher for cleaning parts!

I taped full sheets to the glass top stove in the kitchen.

That's what I was wondering also, where was the woman of the house while you were doing that.  Bet she would appreciate seeing you do that   :ranting:

Yep, I don't understand why they don't appreciate that sweet intoxicating aroma drifting thru the house.

I appreciated it a bit too much one time…. my pupils apparently got huge and when my mother visited a bit later she started opening windows/doors…. I’m fine now… I think.

Those aren't backwards. They are set for Optimum reverse traction.

Using your wife’s ultrasonic jewelry cleaner to clean carb parts ,that apparently isn’t a good idea ,especially if you get caught doing it.

I guess this applies to this topic.

I decided to bring my 520H to a local dealer in Elgin, IL, Ralph Helm to have my WH serviced, I don't believe it's been serviced or looked at since 1993!  Trying to fine tune the engine so it runs great!  In doing this I decided to purchase a Toro 54" Timecutter with the Kawasaki engine, with the dual bagger.  So they will deliver the new, take the 520 back and service it.

I am keeping my 520H to use and fix up, wife thinks I am a bit crazy!!!

Hope you all don't mind a different kind of what did you do to your Wheelhorse today!

She's probably right. And that's okay. That just means you fit in around here a little bit better.

I never had an internal combustion engine "serviced" by a dealer and I am older than dirt.  What is this service thing?

Why not? The guy across the street from me does it all the time.

His wife isn't really the jewelry type though.

Not sure I ever posted the addition of Simplicity sliding seat rails to our 312-H and 518-H++. The WH rails had a paltry 2.5” of travel. These have 6”. These pics show the fore and aft range on the 312-H. This has made it much safer for operators from 5’0” to 6’2” to conveniently reach the brake and controls.

image.thumb.png.99ad5745330010d621683395cc2e5053.png      image.thumb.png.d4905ecc7cb586fb0be4ea141b04ccc8.png

The last part of the seat upgrades was to make the seat safety switch properly handle a 100 lb operator (shutting down the tractor when they dismount but not every time they lean forward to get better leverage on a turn).

This required a longer, shallow-topped plunger for activating the switch, a piece of rectangular tubing to keep it aligned, and a spring with sufficient strength but minimal compressed length. The washers on top allow for adjusting the “engagement height” (more washers=more weigh needed to engage).

Importantly, big springs on the seat frame fully compress under a 175 lb operator leaving only about an inch between the seat frame and the switch collar so the plunger/spring combo must compress to less than that to avoid breaking the switch but still be long and strong enough to “click the switch” with only 100 lbs in the seat.

The final step will be to replace the temporary self-tapping screws with some small bolts and nuts. (And yes, I know that newer seats have internal safety switches!)

Never understood why all WH’s didn’t have operator adjustable seats with additional travel.  Looks great!
