Absolutely!  I tacked a plow on my truck with a coat hanger one time to prep it for welding at the inlaw’s!  15 minute drive and it stayed on

Tried today another Muffler to listen the Sound.

 

 

the old one begin to rotten by rust, and it was a bit louder because of that,

i ordered the same as spare, but until it‘s here i decide to try the Crome one, how it Sounds.

 

 

A mellow tone is heared and it‘s not too loud, i love that Sound and decide it keeps on.

definitely more silent as the first one wich was on.

than i changed the Deck wheels with new ones.

i found much cooler ones, but they actually can not be delivered so i decide to pick this cheaps to keep the Deck where it should be.

Tried all while mow once arround the house for a testride.

using a magenta Rust stopper for a try from our company, to see how this will work until resto.

Changed the spark plug In One of the RJs today,  painted an RJ throttle cable and an RJ drive pulley!  Also put up two new Wheel Horse signs on back wall!

Cut and drilled a 1/2” sheet of UHMW PE to make a wear bar, and installed with stainless hardware. Drilling the holes was the first official job of my 50’s craftsman drill press.  The next job will probably be drilling larger 3/4” holes in the mulching blades for the RD 42” deck.

Did a few more things to the 418 and the 420 today. On the 418 removed the engine tins and used compressed air to clean the cylinder heads and surrounding areas. Removed many fasteners and never-siezed the threads to make future maintenance easier. Also painted the engine chaff screen and reinstalled. I was hoping to use this seat that I bought about 6 years ago at a JD Dealer for $ 40.00  for the 418 that they ordered for someone and they never picked it up but the bolt pattern will only fit my 312 and C-120 but not the 418 or 417. On the 420 primed the tunnel and will paint that black and then reinstall all the motion control linkages and lever. Getting closer to finishing up everything for the Meet  & Greet next month.

That Say of my Grandpa hits today my Mind when i came home after Work and see my Horse.

 

Yap, two hearts beats in my chest actually,

one tell’s me keep the Horse with it‘s Patina as it is,

the other tell’s me - do a complete rework.

 

technically i do a rework step by Step that‘s for sure,

but be i‘m willing to destroy that nice Patina? 

I don‘t know, this is maybe one of my hardest Decisions i have to take.

 

So i begin today to opening the Covers and grease the Spindles and checking the gears.

 

 

 

Than i exchange the rear Fender with a better one @pullstart crate in and mount it with 2 Rubberinlay‘s on the Screw’s 

that it don‘t rattle in idle or on full throttle, 

at least i shift the Seat to find my best position and drill a new hole in it and mounted the Seat.

 

Some of the missing Deck gear cover screws i was able to exchange with spares ( inch screws) i found in my collections.

 

After that, i resharpening the Blades and do a testmow on the large Area.

It works like a champ, even with 1/3 throttle and 2. Gear it cuts nice and smooth.

Raising the throttle Wasn‘t needed, but sounds great.

I only thinkering on a other Throttle bowden,

because the chokebowden is not stiff enough and the throttle drops after few Seconds.

The Accoustic is fantastic, reminds me on a Bobber, just as a Single Cylindre.

 

I try to do a short Vid but it‘s impossible to capture that fantastic Sound,

It’s not loud but extreme Powerful.

 

 

After Mowing i decide to keep for the Moment the optics with it‘s Patina.

To save that Status and keep upcomeing rust away, i decide to grease it completely with Mike Sanders.

 

Boy, that looks so sharp, i like it.

 

Mart‘l comes by and take a look on it while i mowing arround.

He give me a thumb up and meant, whow, a real adult Sound for such a small tracta.

That Sound’s much better than all your others, it appears more power than it really have.

The commando 6 I just tore all apart had the most grease I ever seen on a garden tractor,  they were a farmer family that had it, It must have been greased before every use.  The plus side there wasn't much rust and everything came apart nicely.  I must have scrapped a couple tubes worth off it

Before i regrease any machinery, i give it an inspection and than deciding remove first all the old Grease ahead.

because of the basically unknown Status for me, i like to have a knowledge how the things are in condition.

 

The deck was also in the past maintained, it is still with Patina but not loveless misused at all,

the PO took definitely care of it, not too much grease not too less.
