My tractor had the same round lights, they got old and burned out. Rather than replacing them I found new LEDs that looked very similar. Since this tractor is my work horse, the LEDs were a very functional upgrade.

 And yes, if this was a worker I would have kept the headlights. But it’s pretty much just a show cruiser. Occasionally I’ll hook up a trailer and move firewood but never at night.

I do agree those lights look better in the parts bin than on the tractor!

I have found two potential “gotchas” on these decks when mixin’ & matchin’ apart from those driven by the 32 vs 36” sizes. 

In ’68, WH added shoulders on the bottoms of the cross-shaft bearing holders around the mounting bolt holes. I believe it was better for locking in cross shaft alignment. These then needed enlarged holes through the shell and into mating sockets in the cast iron bearing holder.

In, I think, ’66 or ’68, the spindles were lengthened by ⅛” to accommodate a thrust bearing below the spindle gear--previously there was a simple thin thrust washer.

I believe the ones on the 32 inch deck had them. I have not inspected the ones from the 36 we just took apart yet.

My free 702 already had holes w/no lights installed.  Since its a functional tractor I installed led lamps. They definitely work great & at least I dont think they look too bad......It kinda ugly old tractor anyways! 🤣

My "New to Me" D160 Kept pushing the dip stick out of the tube.  I knew that wasn't right and did some digging about the Onan B43 in it.  Took apart the breather reed valve assembly and was surprised that Lufkin made the reed; boy that reed was stiff too!  You know what? Lufkin also made feeler gauges and this reed measured in at .0275".  Me thinks bubba was at work here. 

 

My OEM replacement reed was a little more flexible at .0060".  I think the reed problem is solved.

I had a couple hole drilled in my 312-8 when I got it. I pushed in a couple body panel plugs, mine were in the black so I didn't have to paint them.

Installed a "go" pedal on my C-160 Auto. This is the 3rd, and I believe, the simplest, and most elegant of the three versions. Very easy to do. I'll create some drawings if anyone is interested.

Saturday after leaving the show, I pulled all the Work Horses out of the Horse Garage and clean the garage and them. I rebuilt the garage last fall 1 board at a time, only thing left original is the roof.

I have another restored 1848 to bring over that will live here now also. Still 1 more GT1100 at home and 1 at the cabin. Plus a C175 disassembled and on pause of restoration. a bunch of decks for spares. I think the GT1600 shown here maybe next, I have the engine ready to reassemble after being bored.

Haven't done much since snow plowing.  But it was the time of year to mow and clean up the woods behind the yard.  Had a downed tree to clean up as well so the chainsaw got in on the fun.  It was hung up some so the 416 got some pulling fun too!

  Picked up this two piece seat for cheap money at the WH Show. She’s ugly!

  Some gloss black rattle can and leather repair tape (lots of tape!) and she’s ready for service. Not show quality or anywhere close to it. But nothing so permanent that I couldn’t replace the seat back and seat cushion if I wanted in the future.

I would clean up the area and get a rubber grommet to fit that. I bet it would look almost factory. I just welded up a hood that had holes every where from hood ornament to lights.

I would appreciate some drawings, especially since its a Sundstrand Hydro.

@RJR49   hey , you can't do that !  using a heim joint for movement , functional ease ?  have these in use for years , pto lever set up is a GOLD MINE FOR IMPROVEMENT  . steering  rod ends , clutch  pedal , good for you ! pete
