Any places to check online for the pulley covers?

Call Lincoln at A to Z tractor.     You can find his site in our vendor section.

Go to the Toro website using the model number of the deck, there you should be able to find the part number.  If the model number is missing from the deck, post a photo of it so we can identify.  Google the part number to see if you can find new or used covers.  Also, we have a classified section where you can post in the Wanted section.  We have a vendors section with folks that very well might have the covers.  The good thing about Wheel Horse is that so much is interchangeable and those covers were likely used on many models and years.

@Fj40z I would recommend becoming a supporter of the site makes it so much better of an experience and a lot easier to post pics. I 4 see more WH's in your future so you may as well join this support group :D.

It is well worth the price of admission in my opinion. So much help and knowledge on here.

I had my son-in-law make me some pully covers using his 3D printer.

I see you have a 42" side discharge deck.  They are bad to crack under the height adjuster then rust out.  My 1989 had a good size hole there when I got it

You need to check that, if not cracked add a 1/8" thick by 1 1/2" steel inside long enough to extend by both bolts.

Made me think of that ol song "take off the old coat and put on the new", that may not be correct title but is a great song either way....

  • Drained the engine oil on my 312-8.
  • I replaced a crappy aftermarket head gasket that blew out in about 1/2 hour of mowing.
  • Cleaned up the combustion chamber a bit.
  • Finished mowing the lawn.

I plan to change the gear oil too. I need to replace the fuel cap as well and so far my google-fu is not up to finding the correct replacement AFAIK. Oh, found it on the Toro site at https://www.toro.com/en/parts/partdetails?id=3418&iid=295761&pid=304458 "NOT AVAILABLE" but Amazon has the part number "55-3570 toro" listed for $18.20 US. At the Toro store no less! I should probably order a spare drive belt as well. Props to Toro for keeping some parts available but that is not as likely to last as long as my 314H.

Yesterday

  • Pulled the head to inspect. Mostly good, some evidence of blowby on the piston top.
  • Checked valve clearance - within spec.
  • Went through carb - likely the cause of poor performance and surging.
  • Replaced the air filter (and foam wrapper.)

It ran great! for half an hour whereupon it lost power and could not be restarted.

eBay may your best bet. There is a pair listed for about $ 60.00 delivered.  You would probably do better by placing a free wanted ad on this site,   https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/classifieds/wanted/

Lots of members have a spare parts pile they would be glad to see go to someone who needs them. May find the flywheel cover that way too.

What did I do to my Wheel horse today this week.

I added a slot hitch so I could pull and lift the new tiller.

IMG_20260513_152204024_BURST001.jpg.22b9ba8ac4e0c044cfb03e27ee7a4fc5.jpg

This required removing the weight rack and moving the support legs to the outside of the drawbar hitch to make room for the slot hitch.

The seat and fender pan had to come off so this was a good time to clean the hydro and change oil and filter.    Nice surprise when I picked up the filter...NAPAs oil was on sale.

Also installed new fuel lines, e-pump, and filter rerouting everything outside the tunnel and ran it along the outside of the right frame rail.

Guys thanks for all the welcomes and fantastic input! Really do appreciate all the help and support. I couldn’t help myself this evening, even though I haven’t had a chance to baseline some of the basic maintenance on the 314 I had to try it out and mow a little bit with it this evening. Mowed and ran great until one of the rear deck wheels came off. The wheel and shoulder bolt have seen better days so I went ahead and ordered a new set.

Really wanted to get a good feel for it and try it out. Kind of a shake down run. Noticed all the belts are cracked up pretty bad so all need replaced. Also noticed the clutch pedal doesn’t want to spring back up from time to time and I’d have to pull it back up with my foot a little, so I’m hoping that’s not a bad sign.

Picked up the stuff to change the oil and gear oil in rear differential and transmission. Got a lot of parts to sort and hopefully get this one in good working order. Thanks again!
