What have you done to your Wheel Horse today?

Don - pop that one apart before you get super ambitious about replacing it.

If there's NO arm going in the engine that's a vacuum/pulse type pump.

Ridiculously easy to rebuild.

Couple guys here on Redsquare sell the gasket.

If there IS an arm and the check valves are ok it's still very easy.

I appreciate your confidence in my mechanical abilities but I am a hack. I'm even doubting if I am able to swap one out without problems. Sad but true. My strengths are in dolling them up, not in keeping them running.  Like when I remove the old pump, there is a metal fuel line running from the pump to the carb. Will I need a new rubber grommets for that ?

Yes you should replace those.

PM me your address and I'll send you a couple.

If you can undo the fuel pump itself then you can rebuild it.

No worries.

@Moparman It’s not too often that we see a Work Horse in that good condition! Anytime you want to post more pictures I’d/we’d love to see them.

So I took the pump off, cleaned it inside and out. Put it back together and it started right up. Go figure. I will be rebuilding anyways but now I know what I'm looking for. Just curious to know. My pump is a pulse pump, no arm. Do you think the Kohler would accept either ?

I've never thought about what the decision was on how to choose pulse type pump vs arm driven.

To use the pump with an arm it would be camshaft activated.

I don't know if ALL the engines back then had the correct cam.

Couple Kohler #30 carbs on the bench today.

Eric . . . . . . FYI,  those bolts on the work bench are a bit too big for the carburetor,       :confusion-confused:     you may want to reruse the ones you took out.    :ychain:

Another Kohler #30 carb on the bench tonight.

This one's getting a throttle shaft bore washer added.

Here's a pic showing the screws backing out of the shaft after I've spent a few minutes carefully grinding the backs away with a Dremel on low speed.

@953 nut had concerns I may have been using reassembly hardware that was too light so I found the larger bolts (lower frame).

Should be almost strong enough.

get hit by the "proverbial bus".

Bus comes in my lane she's got instructions to give them all to you for a dollar. I tried your way once but they came and went so fast I got no clue now!

She started her own list but has tractors on it that went down the road years ago.

Now I just need to find a place for the battery

I had to go with a motorcycle battery on my diesel. No room for anything else.
