Lane Ranger 10,530 #17301 Posted October 4, 2022 (edited) Well I took a road trip today up to Walton, Indiana just southeast of Logansport. I agreed to buy a 2004 42 inch tall chute snowblower based upon photos alone. Not always a good idea but I had a feeling about this one. Light dirt, no belt but all the parts including lift tube, flag. Etc. Turns out it was owned by a farmer that had a blacktop road back to his house . He had a 1982 c-165 hydro which had wheel weights, chains and a mower deck. But he told me he bought snowblower in 2004 and only used it five or six times! And the looks of the auger, nuts and bolts, blower chain, and paint said it was so. Here are some pictures ! I also got a manual and I did not know Toro recommended 100 pounds of weight in the rear wheels. Also like the grease fittings on the snowblower bearings. Painted the top of the weights with the embedded brake rotor and concrete, but paint won't bond to HDPE so I opted for some black 200 MPH tape instead. BTW... I did not paint those wheels! Larger stones on the edges to keep things in place? If you look up articles about gravel road building, a layer of 2" to 4" sized stone is often shown as a base layer for the rest of the road. One of my trips to Ky. this summer, I drove past an interstate interchange that was being rebuilt. Looked like they were putting down a base layer of that seized crushed rock - maybe 10 or 12 inches thick. Probably compacted as they went along. No struggle moving them, and they really helped in getting them mounted. They also give a good place to attach bungees if needed to tighten the chains. In retrospect though, I should have used a couple of the garage door handles I have laying around instead of repurposing the wire handles from the buckets. peter lena 8,113 #17315 Posted October 5, 2022 @Lane Ranger nice pick up on the blower ! especially like the greasable chute gearing , look over the idler / drive belt set up , get some lubrication detailing in its related movement , the easier that transfers belt drive power . the better it moves . 3/8" die nut on the end of that chute rod , do a slight grind taper start ,lets you install a screw on round knob , simple easy . pete 1 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

It is his post and his tractor, besides I could never fab up something that nice.
