Another problem with aerosol products/ spray can paint is that it never truly dries. It can be re-activated hours, days, weeks, even years after application, 'cuz there is no hardener in it. Always always always clean the surface with a solvent. Always. The Paint Department here (Trina) uses almost exclusively Rust-Oleum 2X paint and cleans the surface with acetone. I usually do clean it with something...not gas...but I have to say, why would it do it in just a few areas ?? It's entirely possible that all the areas were clean or adhered better. That window moves a bit with temperature. Looks like you unfortunately just found one of the boundaries of that window. Enamel dries in two stages, first is just solvent evaporation and the second is the paint is combining with oxygen and curing. Second coat must be applied either before the curing starts or well afterwards, again dependant on the temp and even somewhat on the humidity. Label should offer some guidelines. Probably the best fix is to solvent wipe it off immediately and start over. But you can try to let it dry for as long as you can stand it, a few days in hot weather, WAY longer, a month in cool weather, and sand it smooth and test an area. Catalyzed/2 part enamels will setup much, much sooner and be much more stable. Good luck. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

When I saw the bottom of the hood wrinkled, I thought possibly blow by hazing front the engine vent cover or the carb. The areas that show 'orange peel' but not 'wrinkled' could be an indication that the can was too close to the work, the propellant can 'blow' the surface like that when too close.
