Aldon 4,826 #3 Posted May 13, 2017 (edited) Have not done much last 25 years. But was big into it way back when RC10 was king. Cars/trucks and Boats mostly. Nice looking set up. Edited May 13, 2017 by Aldon

Achto 26,609 #5 Posted May 14, 2017 (edited) Nice truck you have there! I used to be in big time, racing stadium trucks, & monster trucks off road every week in the summer. In the winter I raced pan cars on carpet oval one night a week and touring cars on carpet road coarse on another day during the week. I still have my vintage T-Maxx that I take out once n a while. It was a pretty trick truck in it's day, I stuck way too much cash into building it. Edited May 14, 2017 by Achto
r356c 375 #6 Posted May 14, 2017 (edited) I can run my bot like a -slow- R/C car. I guess that counts. Antique Koyosho Blizzard chassis. Nvidia Jetson computer with WiFi. Ubuntu Linux OS. Open Source ROS, Robot Operating System. Odometry, IMU and motor control via an mbed enabled ST Microelectronics embedded microcontroller. Kinect camera to simulate a scanning laser range finder. I hacked up a dead Roomba for the front bumper. Fun stuff! It still won't make me a grilled cheese sandwich. Digger 66 3,477 #8 Posted May 14, 2017 (edited) AMC RULES : With the gears I'm running now ( 23 tooth pinion 68 tooth spur ) I'm seeing 15 / 25 minute run times with about a 45 MPH top speed on hard ground. It's dependent on a bunch of things , hills , tall grass , how hard I'm pushing it etc . The stock dual motor brushed setup was only giving me 8 / 10 minutes on 4S with a 17 tooth pinion and 68 tooth spur with a top speed of 15 / 20 MPH . Glad I made the BRUSHLESS investment . The motor and ESC run much cooler and have a much longer lifespan . If I went to a 62 tooth spur with the same 23 tooth pinion , I could see 55 /60 MPH top speeds on hard ground , Too fast for me though . If I have time later , I'll throw a little video together . Achto 26,609 #10 Posted May 14, 2017 @Digger 66 Yes, I did the paint myself. Thanks for the compliment. The 50's Chev body is about the 6th or 7th body that I've had on this truck. (I tend to play hard with it). The original chassis was replaced after I bent the old one coming down from a 12ft high jump. Wasn't quick enough on the throttle while air born & nosed it pretty hard. Ken B 3,116 #11 Posted May 16, 2017 I have messed around with R/C boats and cars for a very long time. Noting outrageous or anything like that... I might be interested in building a few cars like this guy has done. His filming makes it look like a lot of fun and almost real... The Rally car video is super cool. He has a ton of different bodies that all look very realistic.
Digger 66 3,477 #12 Posted May 16, 2017 Those are some really cool videos ! I think I saw the Blazer one but the rally car one is new to me . I wonder how he got the bouncing realism to it ? Very lightweight shock oil ?
classicdmax 190 #13 Posted May 17, 2017 (edited) That rally car is awesome, blazer looks very realistic with the 40yr old patina i have an axial yeti and wraith for my son and I to tool around with. It's been awhile since we've used them though....yeti has a brushless with 4s lipo, waaay too fast for my 8yo. The jeep I can't seem to find the right combo of speed and crawling ability where he doesn't get bored with it. Also can never seem to keep it running. He been bugging my to fix it, perhaps this weekend is the time Edited May 17, 2017 by classicdmax
