My suggestion is the Vredestein V61 in four-ply 16x6.50-8 size. I know that it is slightly narrower but other members like them as well. I'm sure someone will offer a photo installed.

Oh, and it appears to have been converted to the forward swept axle, so there is not much improvement on the 90+ models unless it does not have the gear-reduction steering. 

The cab is pretty beat. the framing needs a lot of help and the vinyl is heavily faded and worn. The deck will need a little cleaning. Other than that everything else looks to be as described.

Here's my take, Its an Onan with 550 hours on it.. That is good only if it was taken care of since day one. If it comes with a 60 inch deck then that means it was worked a little harder than if it came with a smaller deck. That Onan is working pretty hard if you are cutting thick high grass with a 60 inch deck. Onans no doubt require more maintenance than the Kohler engines and parts are a bit more expensive. I hope whoever was operating the tractor kept the blower screen clear from grass clippings because that Onan pulls alot of air and the screen clogs real fast, which can cause over heating.  I don't like to tally up the tractor and all the attachments separately to try to convince myself I'm getting a good deal. Package deals are cheaper. Its a real sweet tractor and its owner did a real nice job on it but 2500 would be the absolute max I'd pay for it... I owned an 88 520 with 300 hours on it. It was an absolute beast in the snow and had no problem pushing near 2 ft of snow...

I bought a used cab this past Fall that needed some replacement frame parts and the vinyl front. When I called OTC for replacements, the frame pieces were reasonable priced. Probably  because above the attachment points, they are pretty much alike. But the vinyl piece price quoted was absurd as it fit only my 5xi!  I balked at the price and the lady on the phone did some quick figuring. I was then offered a lower price ( abit more than half but still was $135.00) which I agreed to. Now I had been a previous customer so that may be a factor but you might be able to negotiate.

 

If I was setting a price on all used cabs I would say $500.00 for an intact cab that didn't need any work. Less so that with replacement parts so it can equal $500.00. The current price on a new 5xi cab is $959.00!

After the fact ...but here's my take on values of so-called "restored"...

 

Unless you where there or they documented everything , including machine work and a list of new parts - never let the shiny object push you to pay a lot of money , that can be a huge mistake . Shiny and new looking means just that , and nothing more in the mechanical sense . I see a lot of "restored" machines for sale that are flat worn out and would cost double their asking price to fix properly . Worn out bearings and associated issues with front axles/spindles , steering components , bushings and such add up really quickly and some of those parts aren't available for many models so hunting good used parts becomes expensive in it's own right . I see a lot of really nice paint jobs with a bad hydro transmission , rare missing parts , engines that are worn out and have their own set of problems , ect...that's not a nice feeling for someone who just dumped a lot of cash into a machine , only to take it apart to fix it and possibly damage that nice attractive paint/stickers . There are a few people out there that will only "do it right" and will occasionally sell a machine after it's done - we know who they are and they even offer them up at more than fair prices - so buyer beware .

 

Shiny objects cost a lot of money and often come with an additional hidden price tag - keep that in mind when shopping .

Definitely the wrong decals - they are from an 1988 or 1989. Your 520H is somewhere between 1990 and 1997.  The only significant difference over those years is the addition of gear reduction steering in 1992 or 1993 (I think).

 

What is your serial number?  That will give the year.

 

You are really going to like that two-stage.  It is beast.  There are several things you can do to upgrade it that really help.  As was said earlier, hang about 140 lbs off the rear and steering will be much improved.

Under the seat - left side.  Probably under the cab bracket.  Should be a tag with model and serial number there, unless it got removed during its restoration.

Looks like the engine was manufactured in January of 1991 in Huntsville.

So, the tractor is a couple years newer than I thought. Was thinking 1988/1989 due to stickers on hood.

then, I noticed the parking brake set lever which puts it at 1990 or newer.

If the engine is a '91, there is a very good chance that your tractor is a 92 (a small chance puts it late in 91 also). This means that it will have the gear reduction steering as well. An excellent tractor, I loved the '94 I had.

How difficult is it to steer with that 2 stage on it? If you can do it without too much effort (If you haven't said to yourself 'wow this is kinda tough'), then you most likely have gear reduction steering.

This rigs steers a whole lot easier if you lift the blower. Drop the blower and all bets are off. Maybe need chains on the front tires or weights.

To look for gears reduction steering, Take a look under the tractor a the base of steering column.  If it has gear reduction you will see a gear box there.  Part no. 19 in the diagram with the gears attached.  If not gear reduction, then the steering will just engage the fan gear.
