Does anyone know the value of a charger 8? I can go get one for free.

This is the picture of it. I don't know if the motor is free

From that picture...not much.  Free is very good, unless you can get some money to take it.  :)  Like you say, if the engine turns, the value starts climbing.  The metal looks straight and solid.  I'd say worth fixing up.  That one running and a good trans like it is...maybe $200 to $400.  Cleaned up and pretty...$400 to $800.  Any attachments??

Anything free is good...even if it's not something you really want...it's still better to snag it up rather than let it go for scrap...someday somewhere down the line somebody may want the whole thing or even need some parts off of it...I would jump on a chance for a free tractor like that.

I didn't get it. It doesn't have he starter but the motor is free. A new starter is $200 because it's a piece of crap Tecumseh.

Are you sure about the price of the starter?  WOW,  Sounds expensive and unrealistic.

I have a 20hp liquid cooled Kawasaki v-twin vert that I would love to shove in one of those. I have never seen any vert shaft wheel horses down here in Florida.

So I picked this up for 40 bucks over the weekend..... this is one of the only places on the web that I can even find any reference to it at all. I assume it is because it is not the most popular and has a vertical engine... This one has a 8hp Tecumseh , looks to be in good shape. It hasn't ran in a while but the oil looks clean & hoses in good shape.

Is there any info out there on these? I can find manuals for a commando 8 or a charger v8...

I am really annoyed that I don't understand how to free wheel the hydrostatic trans yet, so its a problem to move around.  When I jack it up the wheels spin opposite (open diff).
Gonna try and start it this weekend after I hook up some new fuel lines.
