Bird Watchers

I saw this little finch pulling nest material out of Mrs Ks front door wreath. Assumed  she was building a nest somewhere.

The nest was in the wreath.

Now I can watch them hatch through the screen door.

And with a mirror with the door closed.

Mrs P.  has had house finches nesting in one her hanging basket one year and now every year they come back to the same basket. Hopefully you don't have neighbor hood cats to pester them like we do!

Maybe if they hatch in time they can travel to the Big Show.

This is my favorite time of year the birds are singing and nesting, the squirrels are frolicking on the newly mowed lawn. The grass and leaves have turned  bright green, and in the spring a young mans thoughts turn to Well I'm not a young man anymore so I guess I'll get the :wh: and do some mow'in...

Too bad you won't be able to use your front door for a few weeks, but you will have a front row seat for the babies. We had a cardinal nest in an unused hanging basket in front of the living room window one year; so neat.

I have a robin's nest on my loading ramps.   I had to use the ramps Saturday so I moved the nest to the yard cart for an hour and then put it back.   This is today's picture.  I take a pic every day.  They'll be leaving soon.

We've had a robins nest under our gutter for3 yrs. now. I think the first batch is out of the nest. There's 2 robins out side now and have been going bonkers for over an hour!

there's a little tweety bird hanging around on our window sills for the past 2 weeks. We named him Timothy. :)

I'll post some signs so no one uses the front door.

Sorry,  no live camera feed, but I will post pics as they hatch.

The birds left sometime yesterday.    Seems awfully quick.. only 12 days.   But there was no sign a predator got them.

All that was left was a messy screen door that I spent a half hour cleaning up.   That poop is like concrete when it dries.
