82Caddy 851 #5 Posted March 31, 2016 I feel bad for anyone that has to move. I'm not that old (31) but I'm not looking forward to the next time I have to move. It's inevitable with my wife's family being 3.5 hours away. I just have too many things; between tractors and shop equipment (lathe, mill, CNC table, compressor, car hoist, toolboxes, etc) it's going to be a bear no matter what I do. That doesn't include any of the house stuff.
oldredrider 2,547 #6 Posted March 31, 2016 It could be worse. You wife's family could move in with you!

Hodge71 662 #8 Posted April 1, 2016 The only thing worse than moving is building the house you're moving into....Busy is an understatement and will be for the next 9 months

We built our new house a few years ago (2011 & 12) when construction was slow and sub contractors were hungry for work and it still took twenty months from excavation to completion. I guess if I hadn't done so much of it myself (or had been younger) and had more subs it would have gone faster.

Thought it would be cool when I was a youngster but now too much maintenance for a young old coot. Covering all my outbuildings with steel now for no maintenance & wish I could do it so no more $500.00 a bucket for epoxy based stains and chinking! Can't even begin to fathom moving ...30 years worth of junk ...think I'll die here!!

squonk 38,559 #24 Posted April 1, 2016 (edited) I would love to move. It's getting so I can't enjoy my yard or garage anymore. Between the stink from NY's biggest landfill a couple of miles away, a chemical plant a couple of blocks away. Numerous cow and pig farms around. Sewer treatment plant a block away. Then the noise from the day care that just started across the street. A dozen screamin kids when I get home from work. To the cigarette smoke and smell that blows over from next door. I can buy my Grandparents old farmhouse with 2 barns and an acre in my hometown for what I could sell my house for. But the wife doesn't want to. Plus the place needs work and I'm not a spring chicken anymore. 1 hour ago, AMC RULES said: 2 gazinta 4 twice!! Edited April 1, 2016 by squonk

Well, yeah, if I were single (or wanted to be), I could move back to the family farm in Tennessee, since it is empty now
