gtofani 36 #1 Posted November 10, 2015 I am new to the Wheel Horse family, I have recently purchased a 1967 Wheel Horse L-157 Lawn Ranger. The plan is to restore the tractor.I would like to change the tires to get the "big tractor" look to it rather than the turf tires. I found the 18 x 8.5-8 ag tires for the rear but I am having trouble finding any tires at all for the front. The owners manual says 4.50 x 4 for the front tire size with inner tubes.Do I have to change the rim size in order to go to a different style tire like on the front of 2 wheel drive big tractors? gtofani 36 #6 Posted November 11, 2015 (edited) What tire would you recommend for the rear, I want an Ag look but wider than the original. I think the originals were 18" 8.50-8.i can't find the rear size on the miller site. Is rhe 8.50 the width or height?will 9.0 -8 work? gtofani 36 #8 Posted November 11, 2015 thanks allI just ordered the 4.00-4 tri ribs for the front with tubes and the 20 x 10 -8 ags for the rear,This will give me the big tractor look I wanted, the rear will be beefier than the originals which I still have and they are not in bad shape, the fronts were dry rotted.total bill at Miller Tire $293.90 delivered to my house.I will post pics when they are installed.the tractor is in pieces right now at the stripping company getting degreased, blasted and primed.I may have to raise the fenders a little bit but from others I have seen on here it will look cool. By the way, if anyone wants the same front tires at Miller Tire, she told me that they are discontinued and I am getting some of whats left in stock.
RedRanger 1,469 #9 Posted November 11, 2015 20x10 will look tough, but may rub the fenders. Some members had to space up the fender/seat pan from the frame.Stock tire height was 18 inches. It's going to look good though.
gtofani 36 #10 Posted November 11, 2015 Right, I read where the other members had to raise the fenders about 1/4" or so, that's no problem.I saw his pictures and loved the aggressive look to it, plus since I got the 4.00 -4 front tires which are taller, I wanted the rear to be up a little also.thanks for all the advise.Gino

shelbyv8 6 #12 Posted November 11, 2015 If you want lug tires for the front, look at rotor tiller tires.
