I have wanted one of these for years and it had to be the 7.3! I have worked on a lot of Diesels and in my experiance this is one of the easyest and most dependable. I am not a big Ford fan, But the Super Duty is the only one I like.  And it finally has come down enough to fit my budget.

Sweet ride. That 7.3 is barely broken in. Congrats. I had been looking for a decent 7.3 around here and everything I came across was loaded with rot. Ended up with a heavy chevy with a Duramax. Has 127000 on it but so far so good.post-5112-0-17676700-1420681737_thumb.jp

I've got a 04 with the 6.0 and a six speed manual gearbox. Love it!

That's a great looking ride you picked up!

the 7.3 is one of the if not the best diesel motors ever made that is why they hold their value. As a fellow Super Duty driver I say welcome you will love it. I actually have a v-10 because I couldn't find a clean 7.3, did not want to deal with 6.0s and 6.4s and the known issues (6.0 is good once you sink 3K into it with a bulletproof). My next a few years down the road will be a 6.7, suppose to be great.

Scott, you won't hear No argument's from me. Good looking ride for sure!!! The 7.3 are beasts of a motor. My 6.7 is cruising right along with No stopping for seen. I believe the 6.7 in 14' they boosted the hp rating to 440hp with the bigger turbo. I heard of course on the internet that the 2016 will also be made from aluminum with a body change. So now with the New to you truck are we going to see you at some shows this summer??

Nice looking truck Scott, but it looks like you will need a trailer for the picnic table.  :)

Now Steve, Don't you remember that I unloaded it from the back of the truck. It was made to fit in a 6' pickup Box.

Well last night I intentually left the block heater unpluged to see how the glow plugs were, well it started right up with no problems! It was around 0 deg with a wind chill around -20, Too cold for a week glowplug system for sure.

Oil leak has me consurned a little as it's also too cold to clean off the engine and find it. I have put on 200 miles on it the last 3 days and its a pleasure to drive something with all that power when its needed! I'm iterested in the fuel milage, but in winter its not so great with wanting to warm up that jello in the crank case before driving it :)

Nice truck and good luck with it! As for the oil leaks, I have worked on enough of my friends 7.3L powerstrokes to tell you to look at the turbo pedestal, the high pressure oil pump, the valve covers, and the oil pan. Those are the most common places they leak, I have yet to see any of them leak from the rear main seal before the other places I mentioned.

Yup that's what i was thinking too. They said they did the pass valve cover. But like i said, too darn cold right now. I also have done all but a oil pan in the past as I was a mechanic. Switched to the food industry for a cleaner job, more $, and better benefits. 😃

Don't forget to add some additive so the fuel don't jell!!!

If I can keep my foot out of the skinny pedal I'm in the low 20mpg range ...can't complain about that! Course it's too much fun to get her sideways ... till I have to buy new tires then it's not so fun lmao

Glad to hear you're enjoying the truck. :)

A little warmer today and cleanded out the valley of oil and its looking like the leak is from the HPOP. Most likely from the pumps mounting gasket. Thinking of doing a complete O ring repacment on all the hoses and fittings, also installing the nonserviable plug kit. I also notied the exhaust servo in the turbo stand is wet. Turbo has a lot of lag and may need attention. So I plan on rebuilding the turbo stand exhaust brake servo and the turbo while i'm in there. Diesel O rings has it all I need for around $300. Only got 12 MPG on the last tank of diesel, but it had about 2 hours of warm ups in the morning as its been in the single digits the last few days. But I expected that in the winter. I do use the Extreme Deisel with the heat aditive and cetain boost. I have to say its a blast to drive and with a little TLC it should last for many more years to come. The power is nice to have with that big truck!
