C 141 High/Low range

Recommended Posts

I have a C 141 with the 3 speed with reverse and high and low range. The shift leaver for high/low range moves and it feels like it goes from one gear to another but the speeds don't seem to be any different. any suggestions? In low range 1st gear it seems a little too fast for tilling. I would think it would be just crawling.

Lane Ranger

You could have an issue with the low ranger shifting fork.   There is a section in the Transmission  manual on the high-low  transmissions for C models that will give you some pointers.   Check in the transmission section of Red Square.

Yep, it should crawl if you are in 1st gear low.  If it is a slow walk, you are probably in 1st gear high.  Most likely it is the shift fork and this requires opening up the trans to fix.  The parts are available and not real hard to do.  :)

About a decade ago, I bought a conversion kit here to remove the column drive lever and convert to a foot pedal for a 520h.
I would like to convert a second tractor, and I need to replace one of the linkage bars on the first one that has cracked, but I can't find the vendor any more.
Does anyone remember who made this awesome mod, and where I can find them?

Not sure on specific model. This 8 spd came attached to a plow I bought. It had some water in it for a couple weeks according to the prior owner. I drained it, sloshed some diesel in it, drained that, then filled with fresh oil. Spinning the input shaft by hand, I can see the axels turn. Hasn't leaked any oil. I'm not really interested in shipping, so I'd prefer local sales.

This is a tag on a 1970 Raider 10 from someone on a FB group. Never seen one that had USED on it, it is Model 1-6041 U
                Serial  342 USED.
owner thought tag reads 2-6041 U for model but not sure.
I just wonder if this was perhaps a warranty factory return and they used a new id tag this way?
Anyone ever come across something like this?
Typed in the numbers for Clarity.
