To straight pipe or not to straight pipe

Recommended Posts

Jparkes43

Hello on my kawasaki 227-5 17 hp single cylinder i was thinking about putting a straight through pipe on it and people time and time again were mentioning burnt or warped exhaust valves and i have no idea how bad this is or how common it is so i just want to know if i should or shouldn't straight pipe the engine

thank you

Is this a pulling or racing tractor? If so then go for it. But if you plan on mowing and doing yard chores with it I think you'll find the straight pipe to loud and annoying. Do you have neighbors?

Thank you for the welcome I was planning to take it racing and not really for garden driving, I was going to make the pipe long so it wasn't too loud but I thought it would help power

Thank you for replying

James

With a straight through on a petrol engine you could lose a bit of power. Petrol's need some back pressure.

ok thank you all for the replies, I'm just thinking of putting a cutout in the manifold so it can be quite and then on demand or if i want more power i could use a cut out

Soo.. yet another idea that floated around in my head for way too long was to build a wheelbarrow with a 'big' wheel.
We're hauling horse manure from several places, some more muddy than others. When doing so with a 'normal' wheelbarrow the frontwheel tends to cut through the mud instead of rolling on top. My idea was to mount a single wide wheel to have more flotation so the wheelbarrow would be easier to push through the mud.

To start things of I convinced my SO to donate her wheelbarrow to the good cause.
This is what I started out with:

Solid, narrow, single wheel. Yes it is crooked because the bearings are gone.

Finally getting around to working on my ark loader.  The previous owner said he thinks the problem is with the spool valve.
As I've learned a bit more about hydraulics now, I'd like to get this all sorted out.
I noticed the power beyond port is connected to the reservoir return.  Is that right?
      Anyone see anything blatantly incorrect?

Looking for a complete hydro pump for a D-160. Tractor is missing everything from the rubber coupler disc back. Also willing to buy a complete tractor for parts, the closer to Harrisonburg VA the better. Thank you.

I have a WH 300 series with a Kohler Magnum 10 engine and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the choke cable and linkage set so it will work. The numbers on the engine label  are worn off the, so I cannot give anyone that information. Does anyone have a picture or can you head me in the right direction.

My arm for the linkage assembly is set at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock if that helps. There seems to be several different linkage rods for this engine.

      Thanks

I was looking around on ebay and noticed that hydraulic actuators from John Deere 312, 317, etc models appear to be Identical to a Gt14 or d series lift cylinder. My question is would a new cylinder from ebay be able to replace one that is on a gt14 or d series?

Images below of cylinders to show similaritys.
