Hi, Trying to find out what kind of Wheel Horse i have. Do not know much about it other than it was my dads.I know he had it about 15 years . Mowed like a beast till about four days ago. The only thing i can find is the id number it is 16K802 it has the kohler 12 horse and the large twelve inch wheel hubs low and high range 8 speed trans.  Mowed great till i cut it off to change deck belt . Went to start it back andwill not start unless the clutch is pushed in when i go to let clutch back out the the drive belt smokes and will not move . I need help to id what kind it is so i start to see how to fix trans .

Is it possible that the engine was swapped?

I think that model number belongs to a 76 c-160. 16 HP Kohler, 8 speed.

If it was fine until you changed the belt then the belt is the problem. Go back and start from square 1. Remove the belt and compare to the old one.

There is a safety switch at the clutch peddle and it's not supposed to start unless the clutch is depressed. The simple things first did you set the parking brake when you stopped

the tractor. That could cause it to smoke the drive belt. You have to depress the bake to release the parking brake. Was the tractor moving normal before you stopped it? Check your blade belt don't know how you could have jammed the transmission drive belt changing the blade belt but it's possible I guess.

Thanks for letting me know what the model and year is for my wheel horse very good to know now i have to see what is still makeing my tranny not want to work right . The only thing i know for sure is where the belt pully at the tranny will turn to a point then it feels like it tries to get stuck and with alot of pressure i can get it to turn the rest of the way.
