c-141 8 speed, won't move!

Have a c-141 8 speed. Backed it out of the garage, went inside to grab my coat, came back out and jumped on, put it in gear, and went to take off, and nothing happens. Tried both ranges all gears including reverse. Drive belt is moving the pulley on the tranny, the shifter goes into the gears. I shut the tractor down and left it in gear, and I can push the tractor around like it is in neutral even when it's in gear. Any ideas? I'm new to the forum, but I grew up on Wheel Horse. First tractor was a 310-8, 8 pinion rear end, dual fluid filled bar tread rear tires, then when I was 11 I got a Charger 12, which I refer to as the "Snow Machine", and 2 weeks ago, I picked up the c-141.

Broken key in the transmission drive pulley or one of the wheel hubs would be my guess.

I second what Don1977 said that's where I would start first.

Checking the key ways in the input shaft and hubs is the first thing to do...if they are OK, it almost has to be the hi/low shifter fork being broke.  If it is the latter, it is fixable, but you will have to split the transmission case.  Take a look at this thread...you may have the same thing wrong.  Click on the link...let us know.    BTW...Welcome to Red Square.

Hey thanks for all the help and the welcome. It ended up being in the hub....which in the midst of my "gotta get another lil red tractor fever", I didn't even look at them when I bought it. The right hub was all wallowed out....looks to me like the set screw came loose, hub was clear back against the tranny case, and the key bored out the hub! I'm glad the wheel didn't fall off while I was running it.

I got sick of those stupid hubs coming loose and sliding around on my 867.  This past Saturday I finally drilled and tapped a second hole and added another set bolt in to each hub.  This, as I gathered through some research, was the official Wheel Horse factory fix to the problem of hubs continuously coming loose.

Same thing happened to me! Thought it was a major trans issue but the Stevasaurus set me straight!!!!!!!
