Curmudgeon 28 #6 Posted July 24, 2008 Dale, How much do you like it? I listen to offers, you know. Jim Swap you a C-160 with deck, a C-121 with deck, and a bunch of "red stuff"... oh yeah, got a C-81 TOO. So much crap out there, I don't know what I have.... Oh, I should have asked... how good is it in the snow? I'd never do that! just B)
Jim_M 178 #7 Posted July 24, 2008 Dale, I'll bet with some snow tires on the back and tire chains and wheel weights on the front it would do pretty good. You might have to buy a good hat and some goggles though, the heater isn't hooked up. Jim
TT-(Moderator) 1,127 #8 Posted July 24, 2008 That certainly is one lookin' Ford, Jim! I was shocked to see a non-FoMoCo powerplant though. I take it that's also a complete GM front subframe? The little VW / Bugatti brings back memories of my high school Vo-Tech shop days. We tried to put one of those things together for the entire year and a half that I was there. (the owner was pretty cheap ) I think the engine actually ended up rust-stuck because it sat there so long! B)

Jim_M 178 #12 Posted July 24, 2008 I was shocked to see a non-FoMoCo powerplant though. I take it that's also a complete GM front subframe? TT, Actually it has a Plymouth Volare subframe. The donor was a retired ( worn out)police car bought at the county auction. The engine is the 360 that was in the Volare. It has a 727 torqueflight transmission also from the Volare. I did use a 9" Ford in the rear though! The original plan was to put a hopped up 292 with 3 Strombergs on the Mopar subframe and put a C-6 behind it. But.... There sat a 360 with all the right mounts, linkages and wiring and a transmission that wouldn't need an adapter plate, and a power steering pump already hanging on it, so I rebuilt the mopar engine and trans and sold the Ford.... About 80% of the people that look at it have no idea that it's not a Ford engine, so I just keep my mouth shut. Jim
nylyon-(Admin) 7,120 #13 Posted July 25, 2008 Jim, in my opinion you can't go wrong with a Mopar engine. I have only played with the RB's and a couple of BB's but my brother-in-law had a very strong 340 in a 69 Dart. Can't get more power per CI than a good ole Chrysler. Of course it costs twice as much to do it though! Very nice!
