Found this kind of interesting. Maybe some of the other old folks here might too.

Dolenz, the only surviving Monkees band member, marked the anniversary of the No. 1 milestone with a social media post in mid-December 2025, telling fans, “Hard to believe it’s been nearly 60 years, but this month in 1966, ‘I’m a Believer’ hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. I sang it. It was written by Neil Diamond. And it changed everything for us.”

I work with a bunch of monkeys. I don't want to hear or deal with them after hours.

First two albums I bought were The Monkees and Allman Brothers Eat A Peach.   @wallfish     @ebinmaine   Gave my entire album collection to my Daughter.

Back in 1980 I was in 5th grade. We had a music class project that involved writing down the lyrics of whatever song we chose to report on.

Mine was Billy Joel. Still Rock n roll to me... off the Glass Houses album.

I played the heck outta that.

First cassette tape I dont actually remember.

First CD though, I do.

"The Music Forum" store in good ole downtown Athol MA.

Bon Jovi. Slippery When Wet.

In 1985 or so I got my first big stereo and in 1987 added my first CD player, both from the local Radio Shack. Realistic brand. 100 Watts per channel. Good unit.

@ebinmaine Around twenty years ago I saw Billy Joel at my high school. It was a benefit for something? I can’t remember. But I do remember it was called Billy Joel, a Night of Questions, Answers and a Little Bit of Music. It was held in the auditorium, probably around 500 people. I remember a woman asking him about the song Piano Man and what a Real Estate Novelist is ? He laughed and said it was just something he made up! Billy lives about 15 minutes from me, close to the late Jimmy Buffet.
