Carbs

Recommended Posts

I ran it out of gas the other day. Shortly there after it would not start. Good spark, and fuel is coming from the pump. In the past this has been a carb problem so I rebuilt the carb. Unfortunately, the local Kohler dealer steered me wrong on the carb kit P/N and it came with the wrong needle. I reused the old one and am not anticipating a problem but I am wondering if the carb from a K301 will work? I would guess that the jets are smaller producing less power but my grass is going to need mowing soon and I have one that was working a couple of weeks ago, so I may have to try it.

Hi Bob, I think it's a 16hp (C-160) based on the other PTO Post .

It should work. I have my spare 16HP Carb(#30) on my 10HP right now, until I can get the #26 Carter rebuilt.

FYI Using the K301 Carb on the K341 worked like a charm. The only issue is that I had to use the back plate from the 341 because the air filter is a lot taller.

BOY am I a dumb A_ _ I was so conerned about the #26 carb working that I overlooked the sourse of the problem. After about the same 10 minutes of working the 26 gummed up too! Fortunately the tank had less than a quart of gas in it.

I used soap and water to clean the plastic tank. Wondering what you guys think of that. Ultra sonic tank for the valve & screen. Tossed the fuel line & filter. The line had 7/11 and a spec number stamped on it. It seemed soft for fuel line and didn't say anything about fuel or alcohol. It's been a while since I needed any fuel line but I seem to recal that both were stamped on the last line I bought. I am asking because I was thinking that the inline fuel filter should have stopped the crud from the tank and I am wondering if the problem might have been caused by deteriorating hose. Just curiosity at this point because I am getting new fuel line tomorrow, but I would like to know.

I use HOT soapy water to clean the plastic tanks, install a new rubber gromet, I take the screen off the shut off valve, and use a see through filter, with new fuel line, it sounds like you may have found the problem, you may want to unhook the line after the pump and run some gas through it to clean any thing in the pump, and replace the pump to carb line.

... I am wondering if the problem might have been caused by deteriorating hose ...

Quite possible, rumor has it that the ethanol in today's fuels speeds up the deterioration process. Like Kelly suggested, you may as well replace all of it while you're at it.

Sound advice! I will do it. Still curious about that old fuel line. It was manufactured less than a year ago but was soft . The new line is clearly marked as fuel line suitable for use with alcohol

My C-160 got new fuel hose and filter this past weekend also. It started running about 10 minutes and dying also. The station I buy gas from claims it is 100% gas. I went to a different place and got premium after replacing the fuel line and filter. It ran and mowed 2 hours without a problem. I think this coming weekend I'll do the same with the other three horses

C - Series, Hood and Sheet Metal (square black insert) (also known as black hood models) for sale!

This sheet metal set, including C Series Hood, Dash piece, Seat Bracket, and Left & Right-Side Covers, and Left & Right Floorboards was sandblasted, epoxy primed, and painted the OEM Wheel Horse Red Paint.

The painted set is not perfect, a little metal pitting on one of the floorboards, a few little imperfections in the paint here and there as I'm a rookie painter, but this is a nice painted set of sheet metal to freshen up your C Series Wheel Horse!

Does anyone know where I could find a complete engine rebuild kit from for the k-19 ? I absolutely love my c-195 and have had it for years. But the motor let go last fall and I want to rebuild it or upgrade the motor, any suggestions?

Hello all. I am looking for suggestions on adapting the pto from my C series tractor to a harbor freight predator 420 13hp engine. I know the predator motors are a controversial topic however it is the route I have chosen for this particular machine. The intent was to mostly use it for plowing so no PTO required but it would be handy to have. Looking to hear from someone that has successfully done the swap that may offer any advice before I attempt to transfer it over. Just looking for any general pointers that will help me along the way to make it go as smoothly as possible.
