Can 2 stage blower be lifted manually

Have a C-160 HYDRO with manual lift and a 37" single stage blower that I have modified into a "TALL CHUTE" model. Works well and is easy to lift with spring assist. I have weights and chains.

Would a 2 stage blower be too much to lift manually and would I be really have anything to gain in perfromance? It's just that with the single stage, unless there is an adequate amount of snow, it is not all that necessary and effective. In deep stuff and wet it works great with the modified chute and SILICONE!

Also is the added weight of 2 stage going to be more of a problem with steering until I lift the unit?

a two stage blower is like have a boat anchor on the front of your tractor.I would assume that it takes alot more force to lift it up.

I had mine on my manual lift tractor for testing purposesIt asnt too heavy BUT it didnt have ant snow or ice buildup at the time. BTW I am keeping my single stage. Too many parts to break on the big dual.

Welcome to RedSquare! Its alway great to have another member from Michigan. Don't have experience with the two stage myself but i have read about some guys doing it. They talk about the importance of the lift spring. Good Luck and Welcome aboard

I think you should trade your current set up for a non-running John Deere 212, partially dis-assembled.

i have a 2 stage snow blower curenttly on a 520 hydro. but when i bought it it was on a 90 416-8 it don't lift any harder than a single stage. but you do need to add wieght, lots of wieght wheel wieght alone are not enough. i've added a brackett to the rear axel and 2 40 or 50 # suit case wieghts. it will throw snow 30 to 60 feet with no problems. it will even throw the wet slop at the edge of the street

I JUST BOUGHT A 2 STAGE , and it is farily east to lift with manual lift due to is pivit point and assist springs . a single stage is a lot worst . actually sucks lifting a single

I us mine on a manual lift no problem lifting it Actually easier than a single without the lift spring

I have a two stage on my 416-8 and I had it on my 310-8.

The two stage has a heavy spring that you preload as part of the instalation. I'm not a big guy 5'6" 150 lbs, and I find it easier to lift the 380 pound two stage with my manual lift onthe 416, than my 42'" dozer blade on my 310.

I have 55 lb. wheel weights on each rear wheel, with chains,and a weight box on the rear with 180 lbs of patio blocks. You need the weight on the rear to offset the weight of the two stage in the lifted position.

I haven't used it much this year, but last year we had a total of 77" of snow by now, and I have to tell you the 416 with the 44" twostage made clearing my 400' paved driveway a quick job.
