Hydro 131 #3 Posted February 12, 2012 Yep ...can you tell we're board up here. No weather. Not enought snow to do much. Was ice fishing last weekend going again next week. Been thinking about other projects and a smoker is one of them. I have a weber kettle with a rotissierie and a smokenator but thinking about something bigger. Just not sure whether anybody has figured out how to make it a Wheel Horse attachment? What were you cooking for 18 hours? What size of a bag. That's awesome and apparently one of the advantages of these is the long period of time. Do you do brisket? Forest Road 594 #9 Posted February 12, 2012 I picked up a barely used Brinkman smoker off CL. It was $25 well spent. Ive been thinking about stepping up to a Weber or the big green egg. It's fun. Trouty56 567 #11 Posted February 12, 2012 A big assed pork butt roast.....8-9 lb will take about that long to fall off the bone good at 200-225 degrees. My favorite.....salt/sugar brined deer roasts (soaked for 4 days) take about 4 hours to get to 140 degrees. Put a bit of hickory in the charcoal basket and cook it slow. Hydro 131 #14 Posted February 12, 2012 Don't think I have seen a double barrelled heater but from what I have been watching on the Net these 55 gal drums seem like a great idea. Hydro 131 #21 Posted February 13, 2012 Do you travel to events and that sort of thing or are you just hired by families or companies for BBQ's and private events? I have seen some pretty elaborate smoker trailers upwards of $8000.00 so there must be quite a bit of demand in the US. We have tons of sausage carts but don't see a lot of the pulled pork or BBQ trailers. There is a local company that does come in for pig roasts and they do up a whole hog. I also do pulled pork, burgers and dogs for our area rec. baseball/softball program and the youth football program. I have a second cooker that I'd gas powered. You can see that one in my profile.
