rad rides by troy

Martin

was over visiting relatives in the kankakee/ momence area today and went to eat in manteno for lunch.

now back when i was living in australia and building cars i always had a fascination for the cars coming out of a little business in manteno il owned by troy trepanier called 'rad rides by troy'.

theyve built some pretty famous rods and customs over the years and earlier on when i was back home i would have done almost anything to be able to walk through their shop.

well fast forward to today i got my chance. i knew they were just around the corner from where we had lunch so jeanine and i drove by to look see and stop. walked in wondering what sort of welcome we would get and was pleasantly suprised.

a really nice guy showed us around and let us walk through there workshop and around the final assembly area and check out all the awesome builds.

one thing that really was a pleasant surprise was the amount of hands on type machinery they had. sure there was some bigger stuff too but most of there metal working stuff was just your average size quality brakes, shears, hammers and wheel type stuff. the workers there really took pride in their workspaces and you could see it was a real high quality business that produced a high end product. really impressed and still had that small town hospitality.

hers some pics of our adventure!

Rollerman

I can remember reading about him in Hot Rod magazine 20-25 years ago.

Seems like he built a teal colored late 50ies big Chevy car & drove it cross country on a tour sponsored by Hot Rod mag.

Sounds about right, I knew back then he was a "new" builder & the car won a lot of awards.

It's been a long time since I've picked up an car mags, but it's good to see Troy stayed with it.

The camaro above is interesting, doesn't seem to have the look of the other cars.

Almost movie prop like?

That Camaro is cool and has that "Transformers" look to it..... throw in a 502 Mark IV Big Block Chevy and yeeeeeeeehhaaaaaaaaaaa. Hey Mike---you could lay down more rubber than what was put down last week by the neighbors!
