Wow!!....that is great. Wish I could do that for my dad. He was a bombardier on a B-24 Liberator out of Italy. He was 20-21 at the time and was the oldest of the crew. The pilot was the youngest. :wh: Makes me embarrassed about my teenage years!!

Dang, Bob, my Dad was also a tail gunner on one of those out of Italy. Was your Dad in the 371st? I think the unit called themselves "Los Liberandos".

Duff,

Dad was part of the 460th Bomb Group. I don't know what their group name was. I never asked him that and he only recently, like in the last 5 years, has begun talking about it. I do have a listing of all the missions the 460th flew (207 total). Many of them were called off for various reasons. They flew out of Spinnazzola, Italy from '44 - '45.

I took him on a bus trip to the WWII Memorial in DC and that is when he started telling stories about the missions and his crew. My son likes to hear about it and sits and listens as Dad tells memories, often the same ones a couple times.

That was very touching. My step-grand father was present on D-day +3 and he was a drive for a M-5 Stuart light tank.

Wow, very nice story.. Very, very nice.
