My latest project

I have been totally without a row boat for most of the summer. (uh hum Steve!)

I also collect and restore old outboards and boats. I haven't been able too run any old motors without a row boat this summer, no fishing either. So, this Friday I went on a 7 hr round trip to pick up this 1955 Feather Craft with my brother Dave. I got home at 9pm on Friday night, backed the car out of the garage, put the boat in and got right too work.

The first pic shows the boat Saturday morning after some late night cleaning. I totally wet sand and buff these boats out until they shine, top to bottom, and that is what I did all day Saturday. The third pic shows the reflection of the trailer on the bottom of the boat. I even put my son Jesse to work. Today I made some seat cushions, tomm. is the maiden voyage! (weather permitting of course) Having a few hobbies helps prevent burnout. :)

Nice little boat. Those Feathercrafts used to show up from time to time around here but in the last couple of years I have not seen a single one. They are pretty cool old boats, probably getting collected up. How do you seal the aluminum to prevent it from dulling right away? Religious waxing?

I also play with boats and motors quite a bit, usually have 3-4 boats and twice as many motors at any given time. I recently saw an old Alcoa for sale that was like nothing I've ever seen before but it got snatched right away, I'd have liked to own that one. Springbok is another aluminum I'm always looking for with no luck.

It will float in the rain sure but then I'd get all wet and probably get sick. :wh:

Seriously though, if it is raining out I won't know whether the boat leaks or not.

That's a nice boat Ken...good to see how they clean up. I'll be getting my old fiberglass Fisher out in a couple of weeks when it cools down a touch. :)

Hi Charlie. I do in fact like the older Evinrudes, the older the better! :)

Here is a picture of one of my Evinrudes, this one a 1953 I restored for my son Cole.

Just drags me from my projects to help him!!! Kids ya' know!

All that shiny aluminum woln't scare away the fish will it?

Nice looking boat have fun with it!!!

Ya' know they say the 2 happiest days of a sailor's life are...

The day he buys a boat! And the day he sells that boat! :)
