stevasaurus 23,275 #27 Posted October 27, 2009 it might sound like I am wishy/washy here , but I am not...I agree with Mike (bustedglass) and I agree with Scott (Whfan74)...it would be great to have a venue on this site to offer things for sale other that WH...on the other hand, there are other places for that. I have access to local papers and radio, etc. Places where I can sell things locally without shipping. I also have some things that I think members of Red Square might be interested in that I can not post...ie...trialers etc. I think, taking care of the subtitle you want may be a problem...not sure. I mean...how do you take off an item when it is sold...how do you know not to respond to a post after it's over? I have seen this in the venues that we have already. Is this more work for the admins? Deleting a post after it's usefullness and tracking a post to it's end. If it is more work for the Admins, Etc...then there are other places for the sales. If it does not mean more work then I am for it... if the posts can be maintained and cleaned up so I am not bidding on something that is already gone. my 2 cents my wish is not to offend...just to offer an oppinion Hey trird rock...how is it going/
whfan74 2,071 #28 Posted October 27, 2009 Great points Steve! I sometimes get tunnel vision when looking at different options. I, by no means, want to create more work for everyone. It was just a suggestion. Give it a couple of months, take a quick poll and then go from there. I think it could go either way. We will see how it affects our forum. Now my question is...........who is going to be the first to post something for sale in there? Good conversation guys! :scratchead:
Sparky-(Admin) 23,143 #29 Posted October 27, 2009 Although its hard to enforce, if the seller could post a simple "SOLD" post in his For Sale thread after an item has been sold the whole For Sale thread could be closed by either of the Admins or any of us Moderators. Just takes a few seconds and a couple clicks and its done. Mike.......
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,602 #30 Posted October 28, 2009 Interesting debate. First, sellers should post "Sold" when something gets sold. But if they don't RS already has a set time limit in the classified section, which I believe is 30 days. If there is no new posts on an ad in 30 days, the ad disappears. Second, yeah there are other avenues for off-topic stuff to sell them. But, let's just say you have a John Deere 110 that you want to sell, but that's because you're afraid the mold may be contagious. Now let's say there's another member already infected with green mold who has too many red (for the sake of argument, let's call it red sores). If the first guy afraid of green moldy things posts his JD 110 for sale, the second guy sees it, and "EUREKA" a trade that benefits both members. That's why it might be a good idea for a Miscellaneous Classified section. BTW. the above scenario has happen already. :scratchead:
nylyon-(Admin) 7,880 #31 Posted October 28, 2009 One advantage of the misc for-sale area is tools. Some members may have a tool for sale, like Mike had recently with a blasting cabnet. Let's see how it goes and we'll take it from there.
