520H at auction

Recommended Posts

Bar Nuthin

I'm watching this 520H at a local auction ending in 12 days.

The only description states 518 Hours - nothing else.

I don't know anything about the 520's so curious about what the experts here can assess from the damage shown in these photos. Also any details on the steering and axle.

Appears to have the wider rear wheels, forward sweep axle (with a damaged tie rod/spindle), rear discharge deck, low hours but may be blowed up. I wouldnt care to have a little in it just for parts but if its a runner that's a different story. Hard to put a price on one that can't hear run and move under its own power. Would most defiantly be worth the going high bid, but gamble that it will fetch a whole lot more than that.

Hard to believe the 518 hrs.    The obvious damage, the broken or bent tie rod or spindle arm and the banged up rear and tail lights are cheap repairs.

I'm not a fan of the steering tower motion control on the 1990 and newer 520s.  The 42"RD looks good and is worth $150 $200.    Hub caps are another $100.

I'd pay $150 as a roller parts machine.

Them is rare as hen's teeth up here.

I'd pay five times that and run like the wind.

Wide rear wheels. $100 - $200.

Splayed forward front axle. $250+

Gear reduction steering. $100+

There's at LEAST  $1000  in parts there without knowing if it runs and drives.

I guess inflation lag is a common problem for guys in thier 9th decade.    Seems like yesterday when I bought rollers for $50.

Since we don’t know the year or model number, we cannot be sure if there is a reduction steering. Early 520s did not have it. The shallower steering column angle suggests not so I wouldn’t count on it.

My prediction is that’ll go for around $600

Agreed.

It took me 2 or 3 YEARS to find a 520 roller. @Handy Don was instrumental there.

I have both (regular and reduction steering), both have forward swept axle and I prefer the regular over the reduction myself but see how the reduction steering would be handy with heavy front attachments like snow blower or front end loader or such.

By looking at the decals it is a 1994-97. 1988 - 1990 did not have gear reduction steering and no forward swept axle.

eb, I was in the same boat then had 2 runners fall in my lap within a 2 week time span really stretched my Wheel Horse allowance. Warden was puffed up a little but got over it no time.:D
