I need a hitch with the ball up higher 310-08

My 310-08 has a hitch but it’s too low for me to use it to help position my boat. I was looking at a universal hitch the Tractor supply sells but there is no where to attach the 2 upper attachment points. Any suggestions on how I can get the ball raised up about 10 inches?

I’d urge caution raising the ball too high above the axle. If you do, keep the tongue wheel down and on or very close to the ground. Wheelies are not advised when pulling a trailer. Also, the brakes on wheel horses barely work for the tractor, much less a trailer... slow and flat is the mantra.

This is well said. 

Several of us have moved larger loads over the years. 

It's a process to be taken very seriously.  

 

 

Juat yesterday we moved our camper with one of my tractors. 

This is a specially prepared rig built for heavy duty towing.

Done almost same thing on an 857 but was hauling a big load of rock on a trailer that was about the size of 3 yard carts put together. No problem until I cut a corner to quick and caught porch steps with tire on trailer then my foot slipped off of clutch/brake pedal and stood straight up and over on its back, luckily got out of way before Horse came down on top of me.

 

 Both receiver hitch's above are great but I decided on one over the other and will gladly tell why but don't want to do it in open forum but will in a PM if anyone wants to know. It has nothing to do with preferring one seller over the other but a design feature I prefer on one.

Sunday morning is always our family breakfast.   When the weather cooperates, we BYOB (bring your own breakfast) and meet at a county park.

I always bring produce to share.  Today was watermelon, pears, apples, plums, tomatoes, radishes, peppers, green beans,  and spring onions.

 

 

Then got the 600 foot trot line untangled and ready for next weeks crabbing.

If I could add one more tidbit - use low range. You get additional engine "braking" and 2 nd gear in low is slow enough to give you to adjust if things get a tad sketchy.

Even in good condition, the WH brake leaves a bit to be desired.

 

Note that Eric has the added forward weight of the chipper to counter the tongue weight. Not a bad thing....

Or put a ball on the front which raises it and no flipping. The con is it's hard to steer

I bought 2" reciver from K & B. Its definitely quality. Installed it on my 416H. 6" drop draw bar mounted up with snowblower counterweights. 

 

On a couple of my round hoods I use this multi purpose hitch in 2nd pic. Ebay. 

 

Depends on how big & heavy your towing needs are.

When loading a standard drawbar, also realize that it is not designed to carry a heavy tongue load. 

Downward force on the bar becomes upward force on the tab pressing against the underside of the transaxle casting.

The strength of the drawbar is pulling load!

No confusion, @Ed Kennell was showing us how he made a trailer from PVC Pipe, some netting, a green tote and a four caster stool, not sonethingf you see evdery day. He wsa about to connect it to the front ball hitch on his Wheel Horse.
